I purchased an SP985 chip from another member here and installed it today. I was able to get to 2-0 by pressing the self test switch behind the on/off toggle switch on the right side of the machine. When I got to 2-0 I turned the JP reset key until I got to 58, I was able to press the spin reels button and it went 1-10 on the settings, so I set it to 5 and closed the door and played a game, but the sounds are at the same volume they have always been, probably loudness of 2 or 3 in my opinion. Is there something else I may be missing or could try?

Try this, when you hit the Bonus mode open your door and take out the top glass VERY CAREFULLY ( because of the take and try again buttons wiring may rip off ). close the door and try to adjust the sound pot on the bottom right hand side of the white game frame after it goes back into game mode. You need to have three hands but you may find out which way the pot needs to be turned to get sound, a very small screwdriver bent 90* works great.
BTW, when there are no credits on the machine and it sits idle does the attract mode work? Both sound and lights?

I have my bonus round sounds tuned up from the volume control on the top box. I'm just not getting any louder on reel spins, and winning pays. I am not getting any attract sounds or lights when there are no credits on the machine and it's sitting idle either

The attract mode is 23, we can do that next. No credits on machine push the white button to 2-0 or 2-1, then jackpot key to 3-X, Adjust the volume (X) with your spin button from 1 to 9 with 1 being the loudest. No credits on machine.

Ok, what you just told me to do worked, I set the sounds at 1. Now it won't take coins (dollar size tokens) now will the bill acceptor light come on or take any bills. I tested the sounds by pressing the small white button in the coin mech area. Is there a way to enable the bill acceptor in the menu mose or because I changed the SP chip will I have to re set the bill acceptor?

You need a set chip. A Set015 will work just fine. You exchange the GAME chip. You should get a 0 in the coins played, then press the white test button until you get 9-0 change the 0 to 1 with spin button. Press the spin button until you get a 6 in the coins played then press the spin button for the correct denomination.. Press the white test button again until you get a 0 in the coins played. Replace the set chip with the SP985. You will get 61, hold white button till 61-1, close door and turn jackpot key, should be ready. You will have to reset some stuff up in your menu, I can help with that also.
