The 3100 will clear when a â€œdoor closedâ€ is detected.
I would not go to the trouble of a RAM clear at this point.

I have a Bally and a Sigma, so I am just guessing. Does the white door switch button in the 3rd picture have any wires going to it? Are they intact and not broken or chafed? Just a thought that that might be the primary indication that the door is closed with another path thru the emitter and receiver device...

if you are saying you can do the 61, 61_1, close door and latch, then turn jackpot reset key and the machine will load program and the reels will spin?? since you have cleared the machine, you have to reset all your hopper payout values,etc. I would remove the hopper, clear the machine, reset all your values and see what happens. you do not need the hopper in the machine in order to do any of these, the machine will play like normal with out the hopper in the machine. sounds like you have a coin in optic problem ,this problem will prevent any coins from being accepted.

BINGO. Look at the coin comp plug last pic. on bottom right and left. Should be a 4 pin plug. So, I am going to think it is ready for a coin, but the comp. is not powered properly. Thus drop to the tray.

I ran the Input test and I am getting 13-1 on the door open switch
All other tests ran ok
As for the coin comp plug that's what's been in there since I bought it so why would the machine work for years with a three pin plugged in to it and now it doesn't ?

What would the error code be on the output test so if I get the 2 on coins played then press the reel spin to get to 24 door optics what would be the error code?

When I designed a coin optic board tester I discovered that some boards were more complicated then others.
The sequence was:
The coin comparator would send out a "vend" pulse to the optic board, this would fire the A optic detect, this pulse would tell the optic board a coin had bee verified as valid and it would stay on

for a set period of time making a window of "valid" where the B then C optic would need to be seen before the pulse timed out.
If the B and C optics were not detecting a coin within this window of time the coin optic board would not tell the MPU a valid coin vend would be detected and the coin would be ignored.
Even though the coin passed through B and C optics, if outside the time valid window produced by the comparator, the B and C outputs would not be sent to the MPU board.

With door open only the B optic would fire indicating a pseudo coin and allowing game play with door open.

With only 2 wires, power and ground, being connected to the comparator the vend pulse connection is not attached to the coin optic board then B and C is seen without A and a coin in tilt would be produced.
If the door optics are flaky and the door is open / closed randomly while a coin is passed through the B optic a pseudo coin accept could be detected and allow game play, possible but not plausible,
as timing would be critical for this to actually happen.
That's my 2 cents.

Not only all of above Badbaud, but also the coin sensitivity dial of the CC is just made of a cheap potentiometer metal which tends to become loaded with oxidization after awhile if the machine is not in a controlled temperature and humidity environment.

This causes either poor coin acceptance and/or will accept anything that passes thru the optics - even pennies.

I would try turning the CM coin acceptor sensitivity dial all the way counter-clockwise, then a 1/4 turn clockwise for testing purposes.

It doesn't solve the question of whether or not his door optics work however - he would need a known working MPU to test the present optics that are currently installed.

Right now, his only method of testing for the door optics is to utilize Card #6, Output Test [24] in the S+ Diagnostic sheet, since he has no clue about checking via a multimeter readout through the lines for the output voltages.

At that point, his best option is to send the MPU & coin optics boards to you along with the questionable door optics for repair and/or replacement.

In the S+ Diagnostics Test, it reads as follows...>>>

"To access Output Tests: The Number 2 appears in the
Coins Played window. Turn the reset key until the 2 digits
on the left-hand side of the display correspond to the
number of the output. Press the Spin Reels player switch
to activate the output."

Press the button and you'll find out.
