is this a rare slot, how much is it worth?

Customer is thinking about buying it but wants to know what it is worth in real money.

Those are some nice looking machines with what appears to be decent restorations.


I know the one in the second picture is a Mills Vest Pocket, they usually average between 3 to $400 in good condition.


The one in the last photo looks like a Caille Doughboy or Cadet model. Restored and working I'd say around $1200 or so, could bring more. Not as popular as the Mills machines are.


Of course a lot of prices depend on the region they're being offered in. And the market fluctuates quite a bit.


That is my best opinion on thise 2 machines,  I'm not familiar enough with the other  2 to make an assumption.

The dreaded Colombia slot. A really neat concept last coin in first coin paid out. Took care of slugs in machines. Unfortunately the little buggers are hard to keep running. Top dollar $800. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for one.

And whoever repainted that Groetchen/Columbia must have been a house painter! 
That's got to be the worst repaint color/texture choice I've ever seen for an antique slot. 
My expert antique friend Monti said he wouldn't pay over $300 for it!
I'd get one still even with the payout issues they have. I like the look of it.

I'm still a novice with many brands other than Mills/Jennings. I've never seen the Caille pump. I'll have to look that up.
I've restored 2 VP's now and have 5 more to get to.
It's hard to see the coin slide on that photo but it's likely a 5 cent machine. If it was a penny or quarter VP, different story though on price.

The Mills Chevron Q.T. is the most valuable one.  They trade hands around 1000.00 for an average one.  Neat little machines they are.

Rather than a clock timer for the reels, the Caillle used a hydraulic pump.  Those pumps were prone to cracking and leaking their fluid all over the interior of the machine. Once the pump cracked and leaked, the reels would no longer spin.
I don't remember what kind of metal the hydraulic cylinder was made of, but it was soft enough that it could not be repaired and you had to obtain a new cylinder, which was impossible.  The only alternative was to go to a machine shop and have them manufacture a new one for you, which wound up costing almost as much as you paid for the slot machine itself.
