Hello,
I recently started on a IGT S + that I bought last summer. I was told it hasnâ€™t worked in years! I have replaced the battery, and fixed a few other issues. However, I donâ€™t see any codes, and only get a 0 in the winner paid display.
Upon power up, the lights come on, the BV squeals a little, and the display shows a 0.
I canâ€™t get any further. Anyone have any idea what to try next?

I have learned that by powering on, hitting the jackpot reset, and holding the â€œbet one creditâ€ for a few seconds, it will let me spin the reels once. They spin and stop at the same place each time.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

I assume you do not have a clear chip so I would pull the cmos chip for 10 seconds( it is next to the program chip) and replace it
You want to see a 61 code afterwards
If you get the 61 code hold the test switch until you see a 61-1 close the door and turn the reset key and see if it resets

Actually, I do have the clear chip. I just havenâ€™t gone that far yet.

Donâ€™t use the clear unless you have to.

I tried the clear chip. Nothing happened. There was no display. I reinstalled the game chip, and am back to the same â€œ0â€.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
No change by removing the cmos.

I also attempted to use the set chip. Again, all I see is 0.
My guess, the MPU is not working correctly???

What did it do before you changed the battery? Did you have an error code 12 or the same 0 in the display? After changing the battery did it go to the 61 error?

Just a 0 before the new battery. I havenâ€™t seen any error codes yet.

No displays? Check your power cable from power supply to the mother board.

They all look fine. I have a display tho, but itâ€™s only a 0.

What about your reels? Are they free spinning or tight with power on?

I had not looked at your pictures. I was thinking the 0 was in coins played. Looks like it is in accounting. Open door and push little white button right next to power switch. Only half inch away. It may be on the back side of the power switch. Push it several times to see if anything else lights up. Keep pushing until displays go blank, then close the door.

I happened to find another post here where a display only shows 0. I donâ€™t believe his issue was resolved. Anyway, I looked at several of his pictures and happened to see that my MPU is missing a IC chip!
Maybe this is causing some of my issues.

That's chip is optional on a S+. It's used for serial communications like a printer or player tracking. You have something wrong with your MPU board. If the battery was low you should have had a 12 error code. That 0 shouldn't be in that location. I'd look for a new MPU board.

If you pulled the CMOS chip, did you do this portion of the procedure that slots4home posted, that is, if you got the code 61?
Is your MPU firmly seated?

You said that you used the clear chip. You put the chip in, then pushed small white button, you should have seen the display count down 2 times. You do know where the little white button is?

Yes, I pushed the white button, but no countdown. Just a 0 on the display.

Just to be sure. You are pushing a tiny button half inch from the power switch not the big cherry switch. Others have been confused, that's why I ask
