I am curious if the people using the XGecu TL866II Plus USB Universal Programmer needed to use an adapter for the bios 2 of 2 or if the factory adapter was adequate? 

Also, anyone tried the new and improved version of this programmer?  I'm able to read and write the 1 of 2 with the GQ 4x4 programmer but I'm not getting far with the 2of 2 bios chip.

I am also trying to back up the Fam14 and Fam20 show boots/BIOS chips with my T48 programmer (new version of the TL866) -- the PLCC chip (1 of 2) reads fine, but the SOIC chip in the DIP carrier (2 of 2) won't read with any chip setting in minipro.

Any ideas?

I've had no problems with boot1 or boot2 chips with that programmer.

The boot1 SOIC chip is just a pain.  You have to get the chip perfectly set for those tiny pins in the adapter.
If you do, it works fine.

Also, if you sourced blank chips from China.  I found none of them were any good and wouldn't write.   But I've had no problems reading/flashing an original boot1 chip pulled from an AVP 3.0 board with that programmer and a good adapter.

I have the newer version of that programmer (T48) and I can't get a good read from Boot 2 no matter what I do. Every time, the chip detects with a chip ID of 0xFFFFFF, and reads blank if I force it to read.

The only thing I can say is that original boot2 chips often have a different chip ID than ones that come with boot chip sets from places like ebay.

The function exactly the same.  But are different chip numbers.  One chip may have a different voltage on a pin or something so the different chip ID has to be selected.   Just guessing as I noticed this.
