Game King buttons not working

I'm missing something.  The machine worked after you upgraded it to an 044 and continued to work until the bill validator failed and was replaced correct?  if that's the case how in the hell would the switches all of the sudden be wired wrong?

My bad, I thought I mentioned earlier in the thread that I removed all the buttons and had the deck resurfaced and then replaced the buttons.  I followed the schematic from the files section.  I apologize for not saying anything sooner.

okay,

Basically black wires go to the outside pin of every switch.

Yellow wires go to the middle pin of every switch.

Red and blue wires go to the two pins of the button lamps.

Pretty easy to see if you pull off the button deck from the door...only about a dozen nuts...lol

Ok, now it makes a bit more sense.  Best thing to do in my opinion.  Yank the right cabinet I/O card out of the machine and set it aside.  It's for the upper row of 5 line bet buttons only.  Get the 10 lower switches (service, cashout, bet one, 5 hold buttons, play max credits, & deal/draw) controlled by the door I/O working first and then work on the upper ones.  I've attached a wiring diagram for switches.  There is a wire color code decoder chart on the bottom right of the wiring diagram.  You'll need the door I/O wiring diagram so you know which switch is which as the wiring diagram just shows it as S1, S2 etc.  You'll have to follow say Hold 1 from the I/O card across J41 to the second page to see which switch Hold 1 is and then wire it accordingly.

I checked the button wiring and it was correct. So, I decide to start checking some voltages.  I checked the J9 senet and had 24 and 13 volts in the proper locations.   So I tested traced the red wire from the senet to the I/O board and had 13 volts.  After playing around with the wires on the I/O harness I got the buttons to light up.  However, the button functions are still not working.  Is it common for a harness to go bad?  I'm thinking just replacing it to narrow things down.

Progress! Did you get the both rows of buttons to light up or just one?  Keep checking the wires and clean all those connections.

Probably a ground switch button wire broken inside under the covering that you cannot physically see.
It will be the doubled up wire.
Pull out the multimeter and start checking the ground wiring for continuity from the end of the Molex connector housing pin going into the backplane board all the way back to the last button on the deck furthest away.

No, it's not common for them to go bad.  The red wires that daisy chains to each light should have +13V on them at all times.  Is that what you see?

The black/red wires that daisy chains to the common connection of each microswitch should have continuity with ground.  Does it?
