just wanted to update everyone who is buying chips from ebay:
JK_PARTS is selling ST2764 as ST27C64.  mine just arrived yesterday.  I  bought 30 from him...everyone of these chips are marked st27c64 but 2 different programmers show them as NS2764.  Nov 2020 I bought 20 from him...I only recently discovered that they are wrong, thats why I had to order more, altho I did not look into who I bought them from...til this morning.  I did request a refund explaining the situation, and I did receive the refund for my last purchase, of about $30, however, I also requested a refund on the november purchase..no answer yet, but it's prob been too long to get money back.
the chips look authentic, good pins, altho these new 30 have been dipped in what looks like solder because they are very shiny and thick..the November set were normal pins.


I did talk to Klar, the only way to get a tube of 27c64 chips is to buy a mixed tube, which is not a very good idea for me, as 2764 are worthless in an s2000 machine.

Thank you for the heads up on that eBay seller. Looks like they’re a seller from China. And from what I hear, a big percentage of Chinese chips are counterfeit.

How many 27c64's you need?

It doesn't matter what the letters in the beginning are...that's company markings.


Can be ST, AT, Am, NM, etc,etc.

You can also use 27C512's or  27SF512's which are flash based.  They are 512Kbit  chips, but if you just stack the bin 8 times to get the right file size, it will work.  You can do it from a command prompt like this:

copy  ss3334.bin+sss3334.bin+ss3334.bin+ss3334.bin+ss3334.bin+ss3334.bin+ss3334.bin+ss3334.bin stacked.bin

That will result in a file called stacked.bin that will be 512K and will have 8 stacked copies of the SS3334.bin file that you can burn on either a regular 27C512 or a 27SF512.

It's only necessary to fill the chip if it's going into a S Plus.
If it's going into a S2k you can use a 64, 128, 256 or 512 without doing that.
The important thing is the access time should be 120ns or faster.
I use a lot of Winbond W27C512 eeproms. Erasable with one click rather than waiting on the UV eraser.

here is an update to the update....i requested a refund from my 11-20 purchase...yesterday i received an email from the seller...he refunded the entire amount also.  atleast hes good at that.
anyways...im whole with that JK_PARTS.  i will not buy from him again.  i did order from another vendor on ebay...will see how that goes and let you know either way when they finally arrive..prob 30-60 days from now...

i can use my 512 100 in an s2000?  just copy the ss file like i would using an 27c64?  who knew!?! thats great news..even tho i just turned down an opportunity to get more of those too! lol...
I knew i could stack them, but i had only done it once or twice, but im old..i forgot how to do it lol
