S2000 spitting out bills

Hi all. I have an S2000 that had a coin out jam and required a full clear. I’ve successfully set the machine back up with no errors when powered on. The bill acceptor takes in bills and tickets (I have TITO installed), but spits them out after a few seconds. All of my limits are set to their default numbers, but it won’t even take in a crisp $1 bill. The bill acceptor has worked fine for years.

Any suggestions would be great!

Did you do a netplex auto config?

There are a few ways to get around doing a full clear (and loosing all your settings) to clear a coin-out jam.  One way is to change to a different SB and let it clear the errors, then reinstall the correct SB.  Another way is to just swap the two ram chips with each other, then clear all errors.

Or just remove and re-install the battery on the MPU board (assuming it's in a battery holder).

Definitely wish I had known that before doing a full clear haha. But I’ve already gone through the clear process and setup.

Does the insert bills legend illuminate?  Did you do the netplex autoconfig that Mark asked about?  Is the validator enabled in the options menu 3.3.1?  Are the limits properly set in options menu 3.1.4?

You will also need to configure the SAS Comm channel and settings before it will accept tickets again.

Normally the only reason to use a clear chip is to change the accounting denomination.  If you're not doing that don't install it.

Don't forget to disable the hopper or it will happen again if someone hits the cash out button.

Yep, everything lights up as expected. I did a bill test and the machine recognizes the $1 bill I insert but in normal functionality, the bill is rejected after a few seconds.

I also did a Netplex auto config but that didn’t solve anything. All limits are default, bills are set at $1000.

I’ll confirm the SAS settings.

Usually when it accepts a bill and holds on to it for a few seconds it passes the validator's acceptance and waiting on the machine to tell it to accept it.  There's two limits (3.1.4) that need to be set, the machine credit limit and the bill validator credit limit are both of those set to appropriate values?

Yep, that’s why I’m confused too haha. Bill limit is set at 1000 and credit limit is set at 1000.

Do you have a WBA validator in it?  If so, are all the dip switches turned OFF?

Yep, all of them are set in the “off” position. Unfortunately I don’t have another bill validator here to try.

Did you set the denomination up after the clear?  The machine might force you to, but I don't remember as it's been years since I did a full clear on a S2000.

Yeah, base denom set, along with the individual game settings for the four denom touch panel. I actually just did a full clear and set back up and I still have the same problem, so maybe the bill validator is bad? It's just odd it takes in both bills and tickets and sounds like it's trying to process them.

The only question I do have is that my base denom is $5 (since my touch panel is $5, $10, $25 and $50). I've been trying to put in a $1. Since the base credit denom is $5, could that be the reason for rejecting them? I've seen on some high limit machines that won't take in lower amounts since it doesn't meet the minimum bet amount.

Scratch that. Same rules follow for the TITO, where it needed to be an even 5 or 0. So we're all good now. Thanks so much for your help Tilt!

Glad to hear it Josh.  I was running out of ideas  .  I didn't think to ask if it was set for a high denomination, glad you mentioned it.  Most home users have them set 5c, 25c or a $1.  Glad it's back up and running again    Enjoy!
