IGT Empire King won't go to bonus

 Hi all
I have a Empire King that won't go to bonus when it comes up on the reel and also the 3100 tilt that i can't get rid of. Anyone have any ideas?

All you do is open and close the door to clear a [3100] code.

Are the reel strip notches in the correct locations on the reel baskets?

I wish it were that simple I've probably  opened and closed the door today at least 40 times, as far as the notches i don't really know about thos but was wondering if they were installed correctly, isn't there a starting point or something when you put the strips on the wheels?

All S+ reel strips have notches that line up with the tabs on the reel baskets.
Take one off and you'll see.
To check if your strips are on correctly or not, do a reel strip payout test.


[3100] means the hopper is paying out an extra coin...the brakes could be malfunctioning...could even be a loose pawl spring.
Fully Inspect and service your hopper.


Do you KNOW if your door optics are working?
Opening and closing a door 40 times does nothing but wear out the door hinges.
Does the number go out momentarily on the right-most [Coins Played] display when you push down on the door latch?

ok i found the notches and they seem to be correct. Finally tilt 43 is gone but now back to 3100 it flashes on and off along with a zero on the far right flashing off and on just the opposite of 3100, when 3100 goes on zero goes off vice versa

Like Bunker said check the hopper brake, it is not stopping fast enough and is spitting out extra coin(s).  You may need to adjust the brake spring or the spring may be missing.  May be from a lot of dirt too.

okay, thanks. I've tried 3 hoppers and it's no change. I will circle back and try again

I don't know if the door sensors are working or not, don't really know how to tell?

Do you see any change at all in display when you open or close the door?  If you don't then they are not working.

with the door open, can you press the white test button and get into the diagnostic test mode?  if so, then fo to the test where 10_1 is in the winner paid window, advance that to where you see 13_1 in the window, now close and put the  latch  down, the display should start to alternate 0-1-0-1 etc.  this tells you the door optics are working.

check the cash can switch, see if it is bypassed.

yes, i pushed the white button once and the only light that comes on is the number 2 in the credits and the insert coin is flashing, don't know where to go from there

okay sorry, fogot to tell ypou i am the greenest green can get ,i am stumbling my way through, what questions do i need to answer to, i guess by getting in the test mode is by pushing the white button?

i stumbled in to a 3 where it says coins played and turned the key and it spit out 10 coins

Can you watch the reel glass display and wiggle the white Molex on the backplane a little?

I think your power supply harness to the backplane isn't getting a full connection.

That's why they're going blanked out completely.

Wiggling the Molex connector might turn on your display or you may need a new power harness.


Also, Jim asked you if you checked the cash can switch?

ANSWER: no they did not spin before or after
