Need a refresher on the 61-1

So I went through a bunch of turmoil getting a machine running a few years ago.  It ran fine for a few years, but sat untouched fr the last couple of years.  I had to replace the battery again, and got random tings happeing afterward.  So, I did as last time and did the clear chip and everything is almost back to normal, BUT, when I get the 61 code, then hit the white "reset" button, I get the ding and it goes to 61 1.  Can't get past it.  I did find, or maybe I just broke it, but I did end up with a broken optic wire, so I replaces the optics.  I'm pretty confident on the alignment.  BUT, when I get the 61-1, close and latch the door, then hit the key switch to reset it, I get nothing.  It just sits at the 61-1.  Anyu ideas?

When you close the door does the display blink off then back on?
Key switches have been known to go bad, you may need another key switch.
If you have enough wire you could extend the two key switch wires to the outside of the game and short them together when prompted.
