Bally Alpha 2 V22/22 Door battery error

Hello all!  I have a Bally Alpha 2 V22/22 with a door monitor battery error. The backplane has been changed out but the error still persists.  Thanks

You need to replace the coin battery CR2032 on the backplane. This will require a ram clear as well.

I have changed out the battery and did the ram clear but the error is still there.  Any other ideas.  Thanks

The backplane battery is referred to as the Door Monitor Battery. It tracks all door interlock openings and closings for bookkeeping logs.

Are you sure the battery you inserted is good? If it is, then I suspect it is not making good contact. Double check the pin on the battery holder and make sure it has solid contact.

The new backplane with a new battery. Do you think it may need to be cleaned? What’s the odds the second backplane is bad..

I'm at a complete loss here. The circuitry that monitors the battery and outputs a signal when it gets low is on the backplane. It seems as though both backplanes are saying the battery is low. It's seems unlikely to be a bad battery connection or the fault of the backplane. Not both boards. I hope someone else can help out here.

I did make one observation. The original backplane was a PCA 212344-1-0 part number and the one installed is a PCA 212344-0-0. Would this be a problem?  Thanks

Wow.. so I found this on the board that was in the machine.  This couldn’t be good!  Any thoughts.

The circuit that burned up & J22 connector goes to the candle. The chip resistor FB4 (220 ohms @ 100 MHz) burned up and connector pin #5 saw some heat.

I would examine the candle and harness for a direct short. Are both backplane boards burned up?

The original other board looks like it's never had a burn or short. The burned-up board was purchased as a replacement. I ordered another backplane in order to see if both are bad. Thanks

Be cautious about installing a new board. Don't plug in the candle (J22) until you check it out for shorts.

Ok.. So it was the backplane. Finally it works after replacing the backplane twice.. super stoked!  Any one have a line on some good V22 games.  Thanks for all the help Dailey.

Just wondering... what kind of bulb goes in the candles of these Bally Alpha V22/22 machines?

For instance, the IGT S2000's will short out reel glass display boards if you stick in wedge LED bulbs that have wrap-around wire contacts.
The pictures I've attached below is what I'm talking about...>>>

 The manual recommends T10 miniature wedge-based LED bulbs (#193, 14 Volts, 4.62 Watts, and at .33 Amps)
It has one contact wire per side...not wrap-arounds.
