Latest find IGT Game King

Now that I've mastered the Bally Game Makers , I found a great deal on a IGT Game King  $200.
Has the 3902 MPU with 4.0 Software. Descent shape reads the vouchers and bills.
Some light vertical noise lines on the LCD but not bad.

Looking to upgrade to 5.0 at some point, buts it's been a lot of fun so far.
Was thinking of trying a 044 mod, but wow that can get costly.

I read your  eeprom mod for the 3902 , sounds great! ordering some 24c16's today
Looks like an easy mod, I'm good with smd devices.

I was wondering what the Arduino was in the machine, but after some research its must be a TITO they installed.  (one less thing I need to do)
I did try and print a voucher, but it came out blank, will need to investigate.

When you turn on the machine the bill acceptor cycles, then the green and yellow lights start to flash.
I will not take in any bills, when I hold down the yellow switch it will pull in the bill then kick it back out.

Only thing I really did was remove the MPU board to replace the noise fan.

The factory TITO needs a central computer to work.
Many will print out a slip but the machine can't read it back in.

Depending on the printer - if its thermal your paper may have expired or been exposed to heat.... the thermal head might be burnt out.

Exactly what "green and yellow lights" and, "yellow switch" are you referring to?  Clear photo attachments of the specific sections you are referring to can be extremely helpful.

Was the machine turned off when you removed the MPU?

The Green and Yellow light on the bill acceptor ,  The yellow push button is next to the green light.

Yes, I turn off the power switch before removing the MPU.  I didn't unplug the machine just the power switch was off.

Ah, ok.  You are talking about the BV itself and not the machine.  What do the LEDs show on the MPU?

Sorry, I don't have a MEI BV in my GK so I don't know much about them.  I'm sure someone else will chime in shortly?

Meanwhile,, from googling the manuals (and just for reference), when you open the main door, do the BV leds change momentarily?  I'd also try re-seating the cash can as well to see if that makes any difference.

I will have to look, but I recall there were 2-3 leds lit on the MPU, will take a picture when I get home.
I've removed the cash can several times,  the BV just cycles when I put it back in.

The only thing I can think of was; I removed the MPU, then turn on the machine on while I was looking for the noisy fan.
It was the one on the right of the tray that was noisy. It was really dirty. Replacing it with a new fan.

There was duct tape on the bottom of the cash box, I removed it as it was old.
I found this in the manual.
Green(Left) - 1 Flash
Yellow(Center) - 1 Flash
Red(Right) - Off

Disabled by machine interface and cashbox
cleaning recommended

Fix the machine interface (i.e. check connection)
and replace with a clean cashbox.

Maybe I put the new tape in the wrong spot? There is a silver circle on the bottom.

I only have one MEI validator and when it acts up removing and reseating the interface board under the head fixes it.  Do it with the power off. 

Turning on the power without the MPU board installed won't hurt anything.  Just don't remove or insert components with the power on.

School'ed , The problem wasn't a problem it was working as intended.

Like the error code said "BV disabled by the machine"  Why?  I had too much money to add more  I hit 4 Aces and it took me over $4K
I sat there and played $5 keno until it drop below $2500, then it would accept bills/vouchers again.
Since I didn't setup this machine, I didn't realize there was a limit set when I went to see if the voucher I had worked.

Learned something . and cleaned the heck out of the BV in the process.

TITO question. it will print tickets but will not  accept them back. However it will accept ones the previous owner had printed . I know it  will read vouchers,  just not any new ones I print.
Very weird and not sure  why or how to troubleshoot

Can you post a clear pic of the working & not working tickets side by side.  Maybe something will jump out?  A pic of the TITO board itself will let us know exactly which one is in your machine (not that it should make any difference?).

Also, do you have a key chip?  I'd recommend bumping up all the limits so they don't cause you problems going forward.  With a home machine there's really no reason not to max them  out.  If you don't, I recommend messaging RB to get one.  A key chip can also come in handy to verify no setting have mysteriously changed involving TITO operation.  (I have had that happen on my GK).

Yes, I used the keychip22  already to setup the sas and increase all limits.

Here are the pictures of the tickets, left are ones that were accepted (they came with the machine) , right are ones I printed out.
I  put in a $20 then cashed out.

Ok, im at a loss, I tried the  $20 voucher I printed out  today and it took them.
Maybe there is a lag?

Go figure.

Now to solve the nosy lcd display and I'm golden.  I'm suspecting the caps on the ad board may need replaced.
They don't look bad , but may have aged.  I connected  the output at an external VGA and it looked fine, so It defiantly something on the display its self.

What is your sas validation set for? 

If you look at the tickets you got with the machine and look at the validation number under the barcode you'll see that the those numbers are the same as the dollar amount of the ticket.  That isn't the case with three that you printed.  It also looks like your head/roller could use a cleaning as you have areas where the printing isn't clear.
