Trying to do a clear RAM because of an 88FF error

I am trying to do a clear RAM because of an 88FF error.
Changed the battery (which is GOOD) with a new one.
Set dipswitch 1 - #8 ON (I have "LEAVE IN CLEARS")
Held test and pseudo while turning on power .......
Everything is blinking and error code 8100 is on ...
HELP would be appreciated .....

Note: Dang thing worked GREAT until left with the 101 year old grandmother (who passed 2 weeks ago 😢) must have taken the workings with her!

only DIP switch 1 on to do a clear, 2 thru 8 should be off all of the time

I thought 1-7 were left ON all the time? Turn on #8 for clear and the turn #8 off after clear is complete, for the leave in clear chips?

Badbaud - I have your "LEAVE IN CLEARS" with instructions. I go thru your procedure (several times...) comes up with all lights blinking and code 8100. What's up ??????
I need help ... can't get rid of the 8100 .. ugghhh, frustrating!😢

Try this DS1 =  1-7 ON always. Use #8 to do the clear process, turn #8 ON , do the clear procedure, after you see CLC, turn OFF #8  and leave off. Follow the rest of the instructions from that point.

Ok everyone… my problem has been SOLVED…..
Thanks to a phone call to K-LAR and talked to Badbaud (Allan).
He made several suggestions, one of which I did first. And that was to “swap” the RAMs around.
Upon removing the first one, I found the left upper pin was bent in on a 90degree angle
Seems like someone messed with this machine when it was in the grandmothers care.
Straightening the pin and reinserting it - going thru the “clear ram” process solved the 8100 error and low battery issue.

So did you use this procedure? DIP switch 1 on to do a clear, 2 thru 8 should be off all of the time.  I believe SW#8 on DS1 is used to do the clear?

I had used that procedure several (I mean several) time's before.
It did not do any good.
I called K-LAR and talked to Allan who suggested “rotate the RAM chips”
Please read my last post!
I found that one of the RAM chips had a bent pin and was not connected.
Straightened the pin - reinserted the chip - went through “clear ram” procedure and “WAHLAA” it’s back to normal.
Thanks to Badbaud at K-IAR
THE ISSUE FOR 88FF AND 8100 with everything flashing HAS BEEN SOLVED: BENT RAM PIN  :applause:
