Longshot question here, but is anyone familiar with how the Door Edge Lighting is controlled or what it defaults to color wise?

Is it controlled by the Game Software, or just predetermined by the manufacturing of the Cabinet?

I understand how it works, 3 LEDs on a small PCB that illuminate a Clear Plastic Rod on each end. Pretty clever.

My question is this... Am I able to somehow change the color of these LEDs (Diodes) to match the Game Theme?

Example: V32 with Reel Money software. The games primary color theme is Yellow and Green, the Cabinet Lighting is Blue.

I prefer Green.

I know colors are changed via the Forward Voltage on a Diode, but I do not have any information on what the Voltages are on the PCB.

If I were to replace the Diodes with new ones that are only emitting Green light, would that work?

But, basically I'd just lIke to know what makes them the color they are to begin with. Where's that coming from? And how do I make them a different color?

The lights are software controlled by means of the Light Control Board (LCU). There are dip switches on the LCU for manual setting of colors, though I don't understand their purpose as its game software controlled.

Only time you'd really wanna mess with the dip switches is if you're running Alpha 1 Software on an A2 Cab, that is if it's a video slot, reel games have controlled lighting

Edit: it's an Alpha 1 Elite V32, not an A2.

I do not have an LCU anywhere in my Cabinet.

If I follow the Harness from the LED Boards into the Cabinet, it appears the Power Wires separate and go to the Backplane, while the other wires in the Harness  go to a Jumper Plug on the Shelf behind the Main Monitor.

I'll have to look inside one of my other V32 Cabinets and see if it's wired the same way.

I never had an Elite V32, but reading a while back on this forum, there was a mystery switch/dial in the tooper area. I cant remember if that had something to do with the lighting or not. Whats the default color? Blue? I know with the V20 belly light there was a standard blue light, and later revisions had a dipswitch to change the color. Not sure if the Elite had the same revision or not.

Yes, default color is blue.

No mystery Dial or Switch up top, no Control Board or anything else.

The only thing that might make sense is the Jumper at the end of the Harness. Maybe moving around the pins does something for the color of the LEDs. But, I'm not that interested in pulling pins and swapping them around to find out. Dips would have been a much better option.

Maybe each Jumper Plug is wired a specific way and they install the "correct color" plug during assembly.

I did remove the dead LEDs from one of the little Circuit Boards and soldered on some green ones, but couldn't get all of them to light, even by installing them with the correct polarity. Not sure how that Board is configured, so I might just have to figure out something else.

When I had a 32" Elite I just made up different jumpers on a few Molex mini fit connectors.  I believe the white is ground and the blue is blue.  I made up green and red, and even combined a couple for purple.  Don't think I still have the jumpers but will look.

Thanks, and yes, I just figured that out.

I looked in my other Cabinets and noticed that 2 had different styles of Jumpers (Pins in different places).

So, now I've got 2 Blue and 2 Red.

I'll have to do some experiments to figure out what makes Green.

Thanks for the confirmation, I'll start trying different combinations and see what I get.
