This is going to need some work. The springs are shot, reels are rusted, reel tapes are pretty buggered up.
The wood is oak, It's pathetic.

Can you post a photo showing the complete side of the payout disc. I have a red arrow pointing to it. Also, on that disc can you see a number stamped into it such as CH-1, SP-1 or other?

Off the top of my head, I don't know the R-1, R-2 & R3 series payout disc. I have a book, but I think it is in storage. I think you are coming up to a crossroad as to what direction you want to go with this machine. I do not see the "Gold Award" notches on your payout disc. So, this reel bundle is not a gold award set up. I think your choices will be one of the following.

1. Make it a playing machine with fortune strips. You can even go as far as adding a side mint vendor but that will be $$$.
2. Change the fortune strips to standard fruit and make it a playing machine without the gold award.
3. Change the reel bundle and purchase additional parts to make it a playing machine with gold award. This will be $$

Hope this makes sense.

OK, I DON'T want to make this "like new", what my intention is to rebuild this where it is still old, still has it's old 1930 aged looks. The wood is oak, the base was in 4 pieces. When I assembled the base I drove hidden screws in between the pieces where you can't see them at all. It turned out awesome. The other thing I did was add a shim to the base, this is to fill in for shrinkage, dried up wood, and some nasty old antiquated glue. I used some of the bonding glue, made for wood, checking for the size of the base using several reference points.

What I have completed is a antique, wooden cabinet, stronger than when it left the factory in 1930.

More cabinet pictures.

I am replacing some of the lost, missing, screws with some screws from the 1940-1960 era, some real nice, aged, screws. Another thing, some of the nuts are not square, looking at old photos, I see the difference and I have a s*it load of square nuts from the old, old, days.
Problem is that I can't find my square wrenches, sockets, I know that they are somewhere, safe, but I can't find them. Another thing screwdrivers, I have every size so I am not buggering up screws. I have a few buggered up screws and I have those also. If I can dress them up I definitely will do my best.

More cabinet restoration.
First off, every screw hole aligned up exactly after I restored the cabinet.
Stamped into the wood is a number. Where is the serial located on the machine.

More cabinet restoration.
I replaced the modern nuts with the square nuts. Checked out the coin box, the coin cups are installed with antique screws that were missing. Same for a couple of other places.
Everything is cleaned, lubricated, and new antique cotter pins are installed. The handle piston has been rebuilt.

It should be stamped into the upper casting on the right side (facing) above the award. The one stamped into the wood was probably done by the owner/operator.
