That looks like an s board, not an s+. I don't believe an ss will work in an s board.

I think Jim meant any SS number listed in the bible for the DD game would work as long as the number was preceded by RS.  A SS3441 will not work in a S machine, a RS3441 will.  S and S+ machines often shared the same paytables, but the Game Prom information and the Reel prom information are on one chip on a S slot machine and has a RS prefix.  The S+ uses two, the Game (SP) and Reel (SS).

my information came from a listing for a 2 coin double diamond. it shows the chips that can be used with a S model or S plus model.

so, according to the sheet, a RS/SS3441  can be used on a S or Splus machine.

I have that same doc.  The RS3441 is for the S slot and the SS3441 is for the S+ slot.  The S slot MPU only has one EPROM location.   The RS3441 contains both the Game program and Reel program in a single EPROM whereas the S+ SS3441 Reel chip only has the game paytables.  The game program code for the S+ is in the SP chip.  So if you put a S+ SS Reel EPROM in a S machine it will not work because it doesn't contain the Game program code the MPU needs to run game.  Hope that helps.

Thank you everyone.  RB was able to connect me with an RS3441 (one chip!) - I can't wait to try it out.  95% better than 80%!
I went through the diagnostics on my machine and have a record of the 3851 Expanded Reel Strip locations.  I may try and compile a PSR - should be easy to verify the return.

Even though the S+ HAS a separate socket for the SP program?

Everything is more clear now. As a few members said, unfortunately the s and plus are not interchangeable. the chips are even different capacity.
The list was just showing that the paytable and program numbers for those S programs were carried over to the S Plus.  Sometimes we need a memory boost. I recall this conversation years ago.
