Players Edge Plus monitor issue
« on: April 12, 2026, 08:28:23 pm »
I’ve been buying, repairing and selling IGT S Plus and S2000 slots for a little over a year and have had pretty good luck figuring out issues with the help of several members of this group. Yesterday I purchased an IGT Players Edge Plus 25 cent Tens or Better poker machine.  The owner said it worked until they moved it to another home in the back of a pickup.  I got it home and first changed the battery on the MPU that was dead. When I turn on the machine, all the fluorescent lights come on, the bill validator cycles and the candle lights up. Unfortunately the CRT monitor stays black, that is until I switch the machine off at which time a white line flashes across the screen.  I know there are many on this forum who have much more experience than me with this type of issue, so I’m looking for some advice.

Thats actually a good sign (flash of a white line). At least you know the flyback works.
It certainly needs a capacitor kit, it might also have a problem in the power supply circuit on the monitor chassis.

You can send the chassis to me. If I can’t get it running I can give you credit towards a rebuilt one but based on your description I highly suspect a capacitor kit and basic refresh of critical solder traces will get it running.

I wonder if the neck board of the monitor could have wiggled loose during transport. A definite possibility if they transported the machine on its back.

If it did that it likely necked the tube. That certainly could have happened …hopefully the frame was properly in its tracks.

I can’t say I have ever seen a neck on a 1492 slide off. I usually have to work them off.

I wonder if there is any buzzing coming from the back of the monitor. That would be bad.
