that would explain a game paying 10 coins when it shouldn't, but 14 coins implies there's a still an issue with the green/red wire on the 14 trace unless intermittent connectivity gave you some inconsistent amounts.
'course, if the payout counter wipers are stepped up less that 10 times, then the 10 trace is shorted to some of the other ones by the wipers.
shorts to the metal frame is messy because the frame is mains power ground which is not supposed to be connected to any secondary voltages i.e. wire 30 is not supposed to be connected to the metal pieces/mains ground ... when it is, it's usually a wire on a lamp socket doing it.
if only wire 30 is connected to frame ground, usually the game still works ok.
in any case, nice job finding that ... shorts due to slices in the wire insulation in the wiring harness are a pita to locate.
