IGT HAYWIRE MACHINE MODEL B5033CFIW 1994 NOT WORKING
« on: February 14, 2016, 06:39:45 pm »

Hello NLG world,

I have an IGT HAYWIRE 1994 Slot machine. When I turn on the slot machine and close the door everything lights up except the ("Change/Cash Credit/One Bet" Buttons) and nothing is in the ("Winner Paid" /"Credits"/"Coins Played" windows). When I close the door the reels don't spin and when I put a coin in the slot it falls into the coin return on the front.  And the Coin Comparater light does not come on.

I have tried:
(1) Changing out fuses
(2) Pushing the reset button
(3) The wires to the mother board seem fine. nothing burned but it is a little dusty. I am assuming the mother board is the circuit boards behind the hopper.

Anything else I could try?

I am assuming you do have a hopper,  If the only thing removed from your pictures is the hopper, then you are missing the MPU (the brains of the machine).  You will need to buy a working mpu board and tray with the correct software for your Haywire theme.

Thank you so much for replying. The only thing I did was remove the hopper....

I had a "guy" look at it. and he said he couldn't fix it. so I left it alone and then decided to try fixing it myself...My suspicion is he walked out with it without me realizing it. That will teach me.  So do you know where I can buy an MPU?

As rick said, the mpu board is mounted to a metal tray and it installs vertically into the motherboard that is mounted on the bottom of the chassis, at the back of the lower cabinet. Is it possible to contact the guy you had look at it and get the mpu from him?

Here's a reliable dealer with the mpu and the needed tray.  You may want to ask if he can include the software for a 3 coin haywire theme with the highest payout chip.

Here's a photo of the tray installed.

Ok I got my new mpu board in today.  Is there anything special I need to do or can I just pop it in and turn it on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put it in and fire it up. Make sure it's seated all the way down. If it takes off and runs great. If it gives you an error code in the winner paid window (like a 61) report back and we'll get you started on making that machine run. Welcome to NLG.

Dumb question, but did the MPU board come with the GAME and REEL chips that you need?  Maybe snap a picture of it for us before you put it in so we can tell you if it's missing anything...

I'm pretty sure the game chips go in these 2 sockets. Just carefully line the ic legs up and press down slowly but firmly. Each chip has a notch on one end, be sure the notch is lined up with the correct end of the socket. The sockets are labeled "GAME" and "REEL" so you know which ic goes in which socket.

If it doesn't look like the ic is lining up right with the socket, or if you want to remove an ic you can carefully use a flat-tip screwdriver. Just work one end of the ic up a little, then work the opposite end up. Go back & forth until the ic is out of the socket. If you try to pry it up from only one end you can bend the legs a lot and then they may break when you straighten them.

You can remove that yucky red tape that covers some of the other ic's. It is something the casino does for security reasons, to see if anyone messed with the machine but it isn't needed for homeowners. If it is stuck pretty tight it loosens easily with a little hot air from a handheld blow dryer.

Yes the 4079 is the reel chip. And those are the correct places for the chips. Just make sure all the legs on the chips are lined up. And you can see which way the notch goes. It looks like there is a sp (game chip) in it already. Unless it's the same number, you will have to remove it. Before putting the new spchip in.

Dave

I just checked the SP chip in your photo, that is not a haywire chip in the plastic holder with the reel chip. Don't put that one in. Can you lift the tape covering the game chip in the board and see what number it is? The 932 is a 0,1,4, 5 type game chip. Haywire is a type 2 game.

Rudysdeals should have sent you one with a good battery. I'd contact him and let him know. I'm sure he will send you a replacement. Yes you need a good battery to proceed.

Oh... just read this listing:
This was removed working ,But battery May be low No Returns
Check out our venders on the home page, such as CV slots or maybe just order from Rudysdeals.
If you have a local electronics store, they may have one in stock.

To clear a 61 error, press and hold the white self test button located next to the power switch for approximately 5 seconds. The machine should "ding" and the display should now show 61_1. Close and latch all doors (including the bill validator stacker door), then turn and release the jackpot reset keyswitch on the side of the machine.
