IGT 4th of July.   Hopper, would like to change from 1 dollar token to quarter.   Will I need to replace entire hopper?

The only thing you can do is use the frame, motor and chassis and get a s2000 quarter hopper and swap the other parts
I have done this a few times and it does work

If you  use your hopper, you  will have to change the pinwheel and shelf wheel , move the "coin out" optics to small coin position, take out that white nylon spacer in the hopper bowl and the metal spacers on the bowl screws with the springs. Also need to change the coin guide under the coin comparitor. Move the coin optics to small coin position. The coin head and comparitor already changed? They have to be changed to quarter and repositioned for small coin.

The other option is to remove the hopper and plug in a electronic counter that clicks coin out instead of dispensing them.

Then you only need to worry about the comparator coin.

Put a box inside the machine where the hopper went and let the coin in drop into that.

You can also make a card board wheel for your hopper.
The outside of the card board is notched. The idea is that as each notch passes through the optics they think a coin has passed.
You simply put a small basket in the hopper to catch the coins.

no, you do not have to replace the hopper.  you will have to replace the pin wheel and shelf wheel  and possibly the knife (depends on the condition of it). you would also need a star agitator.

that's all you would have to do to the hopper, leaving in the white spacer actually works to your advantage, it will usually dispense more quarters as the quantity decreases in the hopper because of the additional space. (Quarters won't form a clog). 

the coin optic encoder will have to be replaced, if not, you will miss credits from coins inserted due to the quarter going through the size opening  that was intended for a dollar coin, ( the quarter will usually miss one of the three optic holes)

lastly, if you have a dollar comp. (it is usually turned around to match up with the coin head)  that would have to be replaced, and since the coin head is opposite of the quarter it too would have to be replaced.

I have all the parts you would need to accomplish this.

What does the glass signage say on your machine? If it says "$1" or indicates something other than quarters you may want to consider changing it also, so that it matches the quarter play.

Thanks to all of you, i appreciate the help and suggestions.  I have a plan in place now on which direction to go.   
The reel glass sticker was 1 dollar originally.  A while back I change to "25 cent, machine only accepts 1 dollar tokens", it all fit on sticker.  The nice thing was original was not stuck to glass.  Nor did i take off adhesive cover when i changed it.  Jackpot is 10,000 coins. I will end up getting just the 25 cent decal.

I have also attached some glass inserts that you can print out.
They work well on photo paper.

The files have restricted fonts in them that will get substituted if you edit them - that's why there is a password on the files
but they open up read only with the fonts embedded,
