S+ 21 error

I've got a 9" flat top S+ with the "Sizzling 7's" game in it.  Lately it's been throwing a 21 error every day for the last 4 days....  I reset the error, play a little, go to work the next morning and it's ok, come home and it's 21 error'd. 

I know all you have to do is open and close the door to fix the error but - what's causing the error?   What can I check?  It's never done this prior to this week.

Hey Racer, you might check to see that the comparator is seated in all four clips and make sure there isn't a coin jammed in there causing it to show an error. It might not hurt to check the battery voltage, I  doubt that is causing it. But while you're in there....

Most likely it is the coin in optics are bad.
It is under the coin comparator

Were you able to get the code cleared on your machine?

Battery voltage is 3.6V.

Opening and closing the door reset the code for awhile but it kept coming back.

I checked the power plug to the comparator and there might have been some corrosion between the plug and the pins.  I unplugged and plugged it in 4 or 5 times and it seems ok now.

Now I just need to figure out why my bill acceptor is being wonky but that will be another thread in a different section of the forum.
