What type of machine are you looking for?

Also I called the NLG shop and the Tech said I needed this file???  I explained to him what I did and he said to go to downloads, so I couldn't go there without the contribution, and then nothing comes up when I put in evenm 6248, much less anything else?

What you are saying doesn't make sense. You cannot alter or program the way the machine pays or winning combinations.  If your machine is not paying during certain winning combinations, your problem lies elsewhere.

1. Reel strips in the wrong order or wrong set of strips.
2. Wrong reel baskets on your reel assembly (slant vs upgright)
3  Wrong reel chip.

There is no SP6248 document.  I assume you want the PAR file for the SS6248 reel program. Here is the link to the download are of that file:

http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=2371

However, that file only details the paytable information and there's nothing to configure with it.  The PSR file is the Program Summar Report and it usually goes with whatever SP chip is in your machine.  Follow this guide to determine what you have:

http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm

Once you know what your SP chip is, we will be able to provide a link to the PSR for your game chip where you can change settings, but not alter the way the machine pays as you describe.

I have a SP1048 Game Chip and the SS6248 Reel Chip.  Thank you for the files, the second one is the one I think I need.  It has the numbers beside the 3 reels 'displayed' that I need to verify.  Then if I am not hitting the upper/higher paying combinations, I start all over again?

If you are not "hitting" does that mean you have not seen the machine stop on those combinations, or it stops, but it just doesn't pay?  If it doesn't stop there, you probably haven't been lucky enough.  Five Times Pay is a very volatile theme, and the top awards do not come up very often because of the potential high multiplier.  The 5x and 10x pay themes are notoriously bad frequent payout themes, but they do have the ability for some huge pays, at the cost of hardly ever hitting them.

If it stops at the right combination, but it doesn't pay, you have one of the 3 symptoms I listed above.

Here's the link for the PSR for 1048, though again, the only things you can really change is credit limits, casino backend stuff, bill validator behavior, default credit/cash setting, jackpot bell settings, progressive settings, etc.  But there is not setting to alter how the machine or when the machine pays.

I agree 100% with what you are saying, what I have found is that I think when the chip generates a number that should generate a r7 r7 r7 , that set of numbers from the generator are not linked to the s7 s7 s7 because I went into the Input program #4 and (opps) hit some wrong buttons, and messed up the numbers.  This is only a guess on my part, but I have played this same machine for 3 months at 4-6 hours a day, and until I started monkeying around (programming input/output) with it, I was getting great high payouts all the time.  Just an attempt on my part to rule out the possibility I did mess it up.

Again,, THANKS to all for the very helpful information.

I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say, you cannot alter the way the machine behaves as far as game play with any of the settings in the configuration menu.   The only way to change the way the machine pays is to change the reel chip, NO OTHER WAY.  You can change every setting in the setup menus and it won't have any change in the outcome of your play.  The RNG is the RNG and the slot will map the RNG results to the corresponding combination, NOTHING you change on the menus will alter that.  The paytable tests on diagnostic page 4 are used to verify you have the the correct strips with the correct program.  By setting each reel with the corresponding position, you can verify that the strips and reel prom are matched by matching the stops with the listed stop symbol on the PAR sheet.  YOU CANNOT CHANGE the mapping in any way shape or form.  Understand that whatever you did, DID NOT ALTER anything related to the payout or the virtual reel table associated with each outcome.

Okay, I think I better understand what you are saying, and very much appreciate your help.  I guess I need a new reel chip (ss6248) and the reset reel chip to correct whatever I messed up?  (This just keeps getting more dangerous for me to learn to keep my HANDS OFF!!!) LOL.  Really, I appreciate your help.  If I need the above, and you think it might help, please let me know.

Again, THANKS!

The reel chip cannot be altered by any actions by you.  If your game is paying the correct combinations, there is probably nothing wrong with it.  If the chip was somehow corrupt, the game would fail the boot process with a bad eprom error.  These games have extensive security features that will make the game inoperable if there is something altered within the software.  There is no way you could have altered the reel chip in any way shape or form.  The game is probably operating properly, you are just in an unlucky streak and that is probably why you haven't hit any big winning combo in a while.

:I_agree_1:

With that said, and I just want a short answer please because your longer answers above have me very confused, can you answer this question:

During regular game play, are you sometimes spinning combinations on the payline that result in unexpected pays (either too much or too little)?

If not, then your machine is behaving fine.  It is not possible for you to have altered the payout of the machine so that it is now paying less -- it's more likely that you were hitting a lot of good spins before ("on a hot streak"), and now you're not hitting as many good spins ("on a cold streak").  Both are statistical possibilities, and your actions in the setup menus cannot affect that.

Basic slot machine theory.....

the RNG (random number generator) generates 3 numbers.
Each number correlates to a reel stop on each of the reels.
Typically there are 256 virtual stops per reel but that does vary per theme.
With respect to the actual reel strips there may be only 16 - 36 symbols - the virtual reel stops are the white space between the symbols.

If the three numbers 'hit' a winning combination as defined by the PAR (paytable and reel sheet) you get a pay.
There is nothing programmable about the number of winning combinations, frequency or percentage. 3 random numbers are drawn, and the pay is based from there.

The reel chips determine the theoretical payback. I say theoretical as 3 random numbers are drawn and the pay is the pay. There is nothing that forces the pay to actually pay a certain percentage back.

Take a coin - The odds are 50/50 that it will come up heads vs tails. flip it 3 times - your possibilities are 3 heads, 3 tails, 2 heads 1 tail, 2 tails 1 head. The results from 1 flip don't have impact on future flips.
Regardless of the results from above - if you were to flip the coin 10million times (which is considered 1 SPlus cyle) your odds will come pretty close to 50/50 but that's just the odds and there is no guaranteed results.

For a slot machine to be certified with a 95% payback the machine is run through 10mm spins 3 times and must show that the results are not statistically different than the proposed output.
There however is no guarantee that the results will have any particular output.

If your machine is not paying certain winning combinations or is paying out when you are not hitting winning combinations your options are:
1. Reel strips in wrong order.
2. Reel strips seated wrongly in the baskets - there is a little pin on the basket and a knotch on the stip. These must be aligned.
3. The reels are designed for a different kind of machine (ie a slant top basket in a uptight machine or vice versa).

Please be more clear as to what problems you are experiencing.

If you simply not winning .... welcome to the club.

I have a IGT S+ Plus with Five Times Pay.  The problem I am having is I need to reprogram the Input program 4 (I think that is it) so that the bar(s) and 7's and Five times Pay to stop when playing the game.  I can get one Five Times Pay and a Cherry but it never stops on some of the other combinations (I went into programming because there is a one bar row that is actually paying 3 bar payout and I thought I could fix it.)  So, now I need the program sheet so I can get the darn thing back to normal.  BTW, I never did get the one bar that was paying 3 bar payout straight.  Have I confused you now?

Please post a photo of your machine, and if possible a photo showing the reels & win display when the incorrect payoff happens.

As someone mentioned, your reel strips have an IGT part number printed on one end (usually hidden under the strip overlap). If you can post those numbers here we can tell you if your machine has the wrong strips for the machine's paytable glass. These things sometimes get switched around and that can be what's causing your problem. Just list the p/n for strip #1, #2 and #3,,, plus a photo of your machine showing the paytable glass so they can be compared.

If you need your game chips identified you can post a photo of your mpu (main logic board) showing the 2 game eproms on the board. You can get replacement game chips from several sources on the NLG homepage, ebay and elsewhere, here is an example (I can't personally vouch for this seller):

http://jjslots.com/S-Plus_c19.htm

Your attempt to edit the software in the game chips is creative but won't get the result you want. The correct strips (installed in the proper order on the machine reels), correct paytable glass and correct game chips is what you need to concentrate on. One of these is likely causing your problem. Also, as rickhunter mentioned, sometimes an upright machine gets reel baskets installed by mistake that were made for a slant top, or vice versa. (the "baskets" are the empty reel wheels that the strips are attached to). This causes a problem with the strip symbols not lining up properly since the viewing angle is different on a slant top machine.

Is your machine a slant top or upright?

The SS6248 game chip is for the 2 coin version of FiveTimesPay, it has a payback percentage of about 92.5%. If you are planning to replace this chip you might be able to select a different one with a higher percentage, see info here:
http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%202CM/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Five%20Times%20Pay%20(2%20Coin%20Multiplier).htm

Unless I'm mistaken, your paytable glass should look like this (fuzzy picture):
