IGT PE+ Screen takes 10 minutes to power up

I am working on a 1992 IGT PE+ video poker.  I believe it has a 13"  Ceronix 1492  monitor.  When the machine is turned on, the screen remains dark.  When the power is turned off, there is a white flash in the tube's center.  If you turn the power back on you can see a faint screen appearing.  After about 10 minutes the screen slowly reaches full brightness and there is a perfect playing screen, sharp, crisp, clear. Would a cap kit help this issue, or should I be looking somewhere else?[color=rgb(90, 133, 0) !important] [/color][/font]

I don't think it's a cap problem. I have two with similar problems, but they only take 2-3 min to power up.. I changed caps on mine but it didn't help. I was going to try the 5v regulator but never got back to them. If you contact Larry or Allen at K-Lar in Vegas they can repair it for you. There number is, 702-363-9998..

This may be due to the high voltage portion of the monitor circuit board. I would have thought it might be a capacitor but based on what others have said that won't be it. I'm not a monitor expert so this is just a guess. Once the screen does start working ok is it good for as long as you play it, even if you go to the menu screen and change to a different game (I'm assuming you have a multigame game setup)?

Actually, on a machine of that age, caps ARE the likely problem. When they get old and start to dry out they can take a while to warm up and work correctly. Could it be something else? Of course it could, but caps are the odds on favorite

Sound like the filaments on the CRT are low and take awhile to warm up. Try checking the voltage on the CRT board pins 9 and 10 on the CRT socket should be around 6 volts ac, but it's horizontal frequency so some meters won't measure it right. I have a Fluke meter that does. Also for brightness problems on CRT units the grid to cathode voltage if too much difference can be dark. Screen voltage on that unit should be 200-300 volts.
