Few payouts not matching what is shown on reels

I have what i believe is an IGT S+ Slot.  recently got the coins working thanks to this fantastic site!  hoping i can get some more help on this...  90% of the time the machine seems to pay correctly.  on occasion there have been wins that didn't get paid and wins that pay wrong amount.  For example i had 2 double bars and a single but it paid as if i had 3 double bars.


I believe the slot is circa 1989-90...


As usually any help is much appreciated...  Below is my slot...

First check the reel strip,#s
They should be lowest # first ( left side) second lowest second etc.
they all could be the same #
If ok feel on left side of reel for a bump and the notch on the reel strip should fit into it
Reel strip #s are usually at the bottom of the strip under the flap or underneath the top of the strip.
If all ok need th check the game chip on the board and match to the NLG bible on this site.

you have a S+ machine. easiest way to check the reels strips for proper alignment  is to do the# 4  test .  on the mpu housing there is a small white test button,  press it until you get a  #4  in the coins played window,  you will see two numbers in your displays, winner paid is the SS #,  credit is the SP #,  the spin button should be lit (provided the bulb is good)  press it, the reels will advance to the top payout, they should match the glass exactly, the pay out numbers will flash in the display, 1st coin Lowest, then 3rd coin highest. each time you press the spin button the next payout will be displayed, THESE COMBINATIONS MUST MATCH THE GLASS EXACTLY, if you have any difference you should be able to see where the difference is, possibly one position off on one reel or ??.

Power off ... Switch reels 2 and 3. You can unplug the reels from underneath the tray. Pull out and put 2 in the 3 position and 3 in the 2 position and reconnect harnesses. Should pay out correctly then.
