IGT S2000 slot machine not connecting to my MEI SC6602 bill accepter

I have an IGT s2000 wild cherry slot machine. It has been working fine and just the other day the MEI SC 6602 bill accepter stopped taking bills. I have tried 1's, 5's, 10's, and 20's... I am getting a blinking green light on the MEI bill accepter. I ordered a new bill accepter and replaced the head and am getting the same blinking green light... When I read the manual for the MEI bill accepter, it says that it is not connecting to the machine. I went into the setting of the slot machine settings to make sure that the bill accepter is "enabled" and it is... The machine is taking quarters without a problem. Can anyone help trouble shoot this? Thanks in advance!

I would run netplex autoconfig just to make sure.  If it doesn't fix it, and the head you bought is known to be good, it is probably the little interface control board that is bad.  Those things fail frequently on the MEI systems.  It is a little square PCB that connects the head with the system.  you can see it when you remove the head, it is on the back and it just slides forward to remove.  Has a card edge connector on one end and the contact pins for the head on the other end.
