ok so i'm semi new to the game king video poker machine workings but not to most other electronics.

Problem 1 - I have a machine with an enhanced board and i also have a keychip 40. When I do the whole keychip and ram clearing stuff by the instructions i've found on this forum everything works fine until I do the denomination settings. Once I do those it reinitializes the machine which takes me out of the keychip menu and I have to do this setting before I can make any game changing settings. I tried doing the the keychip menu only reset but when it boots up it doesn't allow me to change anything in the menus. Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to keep clearing the ram every time I want to change a game or setting.

Problem 2 - Since I've cleared the ram on my machine, now it has the coin accepter and hopper active even though it doesn't have either of them. It also won't allow me to disable them in the menu or activate the thermal printer either. I'm assuming the keychip menu also controls this type of options?

If anyone can help out i'd really appreciate it!! Thank you!

Thanks, It won't take me long to learn it but I need some kind of starting point to even know if what I'm doing is the correct things.

I usually do the denom last. Are you sure you are in the keychip menu? I just did the setup on a 3902 and an 044 slot game. The game doesn't reset until I hit exit by hitting exit key chip.

Well if I put in the keychip and boot it up I get the keychip menu and then I select exit to keychip on reboot. So then I put the base back in a boot it up but once I go into the service menu once it's booted it still says keychip needed. I'm using a keychip 40, should I be using a 22?

Are you telling the system to keychip? You are supposed to use the jackpot reset key to select the options and push the test button to actually perform the action, then you exit the keychip menu. After the replacing the base chip and booting, you should be at the keychip menu. It looks to me like you are not telling the system to actually perform a key action? Key 40 is correct for an enhanced board with legacy adapter.

I'm using the test button to select the go to keychip menu then turning the key to select yes. Then the system says shut down and replace the keychip with the base chip and reboot it. It seems to be pretty self explanatory but it doesn't want to work for some reason

I've tried it both ways, with and without credit but it just boots normally and never goes to any keychip menu

You can't perform a key with credits. I would suggest you do a clear and start over. What game software are you trying to configure?

Is it an 044 board? If so, you only use Keychip 40 if you have a Legacy adapter installed.

KeyChip Options do not work when selecting Keychip only when keychip installed
Install KeyChip perform a RAM Clear and Keychip option, no need to perform EE2 Clear

On restart following instructions from the screen

When you use the proper keychip for your game it sure does. Key 40 will work for most all 3902 games even if it's not the proper key for it, but only if you clear everything first. Key 40 is really designed for use for 3902 games running on a 044 legacy adapter board.

For the OP. If you can post a picture of your MPU we can tell you what type it is and what key you should use for it.

Thanks for the help guys, going to try some of these suggestions this weekend. Anyone have any opinions on my second problem I'm having since I did a ram clear?

If you are not using a legacy adapter then you should use key 28.

I tried a 28 also but when I turned the machine on all I got was a blank screen and a flashing red light and the front of the board.

Perhaps your key is bad or possibly you installed it backwards? Key 28 is the key you need to use with the flash card.
