Author Topic: Error 64 on IGT/AC Coin S+ Slot Machine (Read 8034 times)

Howdy all,
This machine has always had error 64 upon each power up. Machine has always worked super & I just open & shut the door to clear the error initiating the upper unit. I recently changed both batteries top & bottom. Now the error 64 will not clear. I also have a complete parts machine except the round plexi for this Slotto & have achanged out every single board upper & lower with no change. The reset button on one of the upper boards has been pushed with no change. Is there a procedure to do when using this reset button? All of the upper boards get a green LED, but the one pointed to in the pics gets both red & green. The lower unit 2 small boards above the main board get no LED assuming because the game is not up, but don't have a clue?This has to be simple, but I know not a thing on the upper AC Coin unit & can't seem to find any information on it. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
This is my wifes very favorite machine & I'm as good as mud if I can't get it back up & running ... LOL

64 means link down. Check your wiring to see if something is loose or not connected. Oh yea, put a shirt on when you take photo's. Thank goodness you had pants on. hahaha

I've checked all connections & have replaced every upper board & the lower main board with software & the mother board. The error has ALWAYS been there upon every power up as long as I've owned it, but it has always gone away by opening & shutting the door which would initiate & set the upper unit for play clearing the error. The error never would return until you shut it off & powered back up. It doesn't away now & all I did is change a snap in battery on the upper unit side board & another battery on the main board. Nothing else had been messed with until I changed out every board on it in hopes for a different result.
Blanked out the reflection of skin in the pic ... lol

since opening and closing the door worked check your optics. Maybe out of alignment or broken wire

The optics are for the lower S+ part & are fine. The machine boots & the reels spin etc, but it's not initiating the upper unit. There's a white cherry switch for the upper unit to close. I changed that cherry switch with no luck. The upper board LEDs only come on when the cherry switch is closed so it works.

On the right side of your topbox, I see 2 wires black and red maybe. They look like they are coming out the front of the machine. Possibly pinched??

Those are the 2 wires for the door cherry switch. I replaced those as I thought the same thing with them running almost against the door when it's closed. Thanks
I'm even willing to take it to someone to repair it who is familiar with AC Coin machines, but nobody seems to know much about them calling around to a few places in NV & AZ. I know this is something minor, it's just having the know how to know what it is as with anything. I don't know a thing about them except the S+ part of the machine. Hopefully someone will read this that has some experience with AC Coin machines. Like I've mention I have 2 of everything for this machine in boards, harnesses, blower etc. When I purchased this machine there was another one parts complete missing only the upper plexi bowl part, so I purchased it to have all of the spare parts because I knew the machine was not commonly found out this way

i have S2000 AC Coin machines and in order to do a reset I have open the door , push the white switch in and then release it and keeping the door open, the upper unit would reset/cycle and then close the door. If there is any other switches in the top unit like the white one on the door , i would recommend tieing the wires together and eliminate the switch. If you have a cash can switch , do the same there. If the cash can switch is not working the machine will not reset. You do not need all those casino security switches for home use. Those switches are worn out and oxidized from the many years in the casino.

I bypassed all those unnessary swithces when I purchased, so it's not a switch unfortunately. The only thing I haven't changed out is the upper harnesses & it will be my very last resort as it's time consuming & a pain in the butt as there are so many connections etc

Reaching for anything. Did you check that cherry switch to make sure it is good? Maybe not pushing in all the way? S+ is famous for loose and misaligned doors. Have you checked for all your voltages? My barcrest Top Dollar had a loose plug at the bottom power supply. It would play fine then the top would go out. Took a while to find it, then I moved it to another connector. Sometimes it's the simple things.

Yeah, I put a new cherry switch in a while back & have bypassed temporary with no change. I know this is a very simple fix, but I have not a clue what it is. I only changed the 2 batteries on a perfectly working machine. It's pretty sad & wish I was familiar with AC Coin

Did you double check the voltage on those batteries you changed? Also Is the batteries installed with the polarity correctly?

Are you using the correct type of batteries, Lithiums, and are they 3.6 volt on the MPU and I don't know what the AC Coin top cabinet uses , 3 volt coin cell or the same as the IGT MPU 3.6 volt half AA Lithium?

I was thinking the same early on in this post. He seems to be knowledgeable about soldering and such. I wonder if the top box battery was dead or just low. I would remove the top box battery just to see what happens. Maybe it was only part of security.

Did the top AC Coin unit go through a cycle on power up when it was in a working state?

When you changed the battery on the IGT MPU, maybe you lost a setting? Not sure what settings it was set at prior to battery change or what the setting should be , or even know if it has any settings for the AC Coin part?

I have 2 boards with the same software & both boards have the same result. The other board still has a good battery. I used the correct batteries when changing them & also put the original batteries back in. The upper unit is a snap in coin battery.
Yes, the machine top part always cycled when it was working. You would power the machine up the S+ part would cycle & then you'd get error 64. You would then open & shut the door & the tray with the balls in it would cycle clearing the error & ready for play. It has always been that way & has always worked perfect with no issues until I changed the batteries. I know this is so simple to someone who is familiar with AC Coind S+ machines, but like I've said the AC Coin part I'm just totally lost

Try this. With the power off. Disconnect the power connection on the motherboard in the bottom of the cabinet. This will kill the power to the MPU. Now turn the power and see if the AC Coin portion cycles. Let it finish it's cycle. Then turn the power off and reconnect the power harness to the motherboard. Turn the power on and see if it works.

Also. On the bottom of the cabinet where the coin tray mounts, is that a switch?
