S+ MPU and Chip help needed

I am a newbie who scored a Double Diamond double spin machine.  I let the battery run dead and tried to have it fixed on my own.  I bought a new board, but it rolls and spins the reels backwards and am trying to get that resolved.  The original board is still viable, but I bent some prongs on the chips.  I am trying to identify if it has a 10 or 16 MHz CPU board. I also think I need to reformat or recreate the chips, through an expert better then my guessing. So on top of identifying the proper MHz, do does anyone have a SS double diamond reel EPROM and a SP 20 game Eprom they could help me out with?  I may not have the proper nomenclature for what I need, but until the battery went dead, the machine brought my family great pleasure to play.  Thanks

I am not real sure why you bought a new board because of a dead battery. Maybe something missing from the story. Unless the pins are broken off the chip I would try to bend them back into place. Not much to lose at this point. By the way, I think you posted this in the wrong area. This thread is about free play on an S+ machine.

Both are true.  New guy, me, thought new board would work.  Turns out new board has a glitch and spins backwards.  As far as the chips, once I put them in the new board that spun backwards it was like putting them in backwards and ruined them.  Wsnt sure hoe to solder in a new battery.  This new information is from a guy who is trying to help me, but not sell me into a new machine.  So with that said, this new guy, trusting another got a bad board and advice, who now has found an honorable person trying to help me, without digging too deep into the wallet.  Me being new to the forum, is there a proper link to ask my questions?  I do appreciate the time you have given me thus far.  Craig

Craig, if your original board is still good and just needs a battery that should save you some money. If you are not comfortable with soldering a new battery there are plenty of vendors on here that can help you. Most have boards with new batteries installed. If you can, post pics of the original board and chips. That will help identify what you need. If you can't post pics, post the numbers off both the board and the chips.

 Hi Craig, here's a link to pictures of  10 MHZ and 16 MHZ boards to help you identify yours. The 10 MHZ boards have the little blue volume wheel at the top as a quick reference. The 16 MHZ volume is controlled in the machine menu.     If you've replaced the board and have a 16 MHZ board with 10MHZ chips it will make the reels do crazy things. Also make sure the chips are oriented correctly. There is a divot in the chips (indentation) that has to face the correct direction. Check the other chips and put these in facing the same way. Also if you put the battery in yourself did you get the battery polarity correct? + and - make a difference. Check that also. Did you change the bent chips or straighten them out? Are all the legs in the sockets? Lots of questions here. Still pictures and chip numbers would help a lot.
