S2000 Won't Accept Bills

Hi all,


I have an S2000 that's worked great for years! Suddenly, it won't accept bills. It takes them in, thinks for a bit, and then spits them out. I have a Bettor TITO installed and the tickets are accepted without trouble.


I'm not savvy enough to know which settings to check. Could it be the validator itself has gone bad?

There are a set of switches on the left side of the validator when viewed from the front, make sure they are all in the same position, like the picture below.  If they are all that way.  Remove the head and clean the lenses inside with a soft moist towel (water).  If that doesn't fix it, it may need to be re-calibrated, but it will require calibration paper which is hard to come by nowadays.

Ok, I'll give that a try. The tickets still accept in properly (with the help of a TITO Deluxe). Just no bills.

Is it possible you have exceeded the machines Bill Limit?  This limit is typically $3,000 max but in some cases could be up to $100,000 depending on software version.  The way this limit works is basically once you exceed the amount it will no longer accept any more bills.  A good example...You have $3,050 worth of credits loaded on the machine and the machines Bill Limit is set for $3,000.  So as a result it will not longer accept bills but it may still accept tickets since the Credit Limit is likely set for $100,000 credits.  In the same example if you played down the credits to like $2,800 and then put a $20 bill it would likely accept it then where it wouldn't before.

When the bill validator was working back then were you using some old bills you had kept just to play with, and now you are trying the newer designed ones currently in circulation? Wondering if your BV software is out of date and doesn't work with the new bills we have now. Did you try a $1 bill? Since it sucks the bill in, waits a few seconds then rejects it back then maybe it is a bill recognition problem.

I've tried with old and new bills. Even a single $1. It was working fine and then *poof*


This happened a few months ago too and I did a full clear on it and it seemed to be back to normal. I just don't want to have to go through the whole clear process :/

Did you change any settings recently, just before the BV problem, even if they seem unrelated? Perhaps something got inadvertently changed. Does anyone else there get into the settings and make changes, maybe someone changed something you are not aware of? Can a dying battery cause this problem?

The only thing I did on the machine recently was add the Smart Sentry from JCM. But it worked flawlessly after that. No settings have been changed either.

Do you have another WBA you can take from another machine and move to this one for a quick test?  If the moved BV takes bills then you can rule out any settings issues and point at the BV itself.

If it is and you move it over...after you install and close the door wait about 30-60 seconds to see if the new BV links right away.  You may get an error on your display that says "CRC mismatch" and if you do just open and close the door to clear.

Well, I seem to have fixed the issue. I took the bill validator out and swapped it with a spare (still had the same issue) but when I replaced the original one, it works now.  :Scratch-Head:

Might not hurt to check the pins on the transport that plug into the back of the housing when you insert the transport and maybe clean the optics on the transport head also
