machine conversion, I'm having problems, can anyone help?
« on: June 05, 2017, 03:53:00 am »
This post is a bit "long winded".....

I'm converting a Big Times Pay into a Triple Slingo Jackpot.
For starters, I've swapped out the CPU and mother board. I removed the 504 set-up and I've installed the enhanced CPU set-up, (Triple Slingo uses an "R board"). I've also removed the 5 button deck and installed a dual row button deck w/ harness. I've replaced the 3 reel with bonus reel configuration and have installed a 5 reel set-up. I've already removed the jumper used in the bonus reel configuration.
The Triple Slingo is using R board #R0000237 with a boot chip 000001 and SB001000.
After doing a clear/key, using a RBK00001 clear chip, I'm getting this error:
Game-kit authentication error: unsupported game-kit type
At this point, I'm stuck and don't know what I need to do. I've tried using a 000003 boot chip that I have in another machine that is using an RG board. I've also tried using a different SB001000 chip. I'm still getting the same error.
The I/O boards that I'm using in this machine are the ones that have the metal housings...not the black plastic housing type.

At this point, I'm just scratching my head, wondering what I should do next.... :Scratch-Head:

Update...

I've swapped all 3 of the I/O cards over to the black version from another machine.

I still get the game-kit authentication error.

I think the R board is probably bad.

I failed to mention in my original post....

The Big Times Pay originally had a 5-5-2. I've installed a 6-6-3

Also, I don't currently have the multi-denom connected at all....(if that makes any difference).

I installed the legacy board...

I did a clear/key and complete game install. At first, I did get a reel 5 tilt error. I replaced the reel harness with a different one...the game fired up fine w/ the new harness installed.

If you swapped the I/O boards from the 8 bit to 16 bit cards, did you add in the jumper wires to the connectors?

It appears that my inner I/O card, (14940201W) is missing the jumper between pins 21A and 20B

Does anyone know what type of terminals these connectors use so I can make this jumper? I have some mini-fit jr terminals, but those are the wrong style.

I cannot even begin to tell you what kind they are, but I'm sending you some pictures of the jumpers IGT provided us.
