Re: MAV500 MK6 chip issue & NSW = Australia?

In my box of eprom chips there is a set of "Choy Sun Returns" marked NSW.  I got my "Buffalo" chips to finally load but when I use the same procedures to load the "Choy" I get the message:

Game version incompatible
Restarting in 10 seconds

I made a few different choices of Multi-line, Power-Play, etc and still get the same result.  Might I be choosing the wrong Game Type or...

...are these chips for an Aussie game Board and will not work on a US board?

More to do with the set chips than the board. NSW=new South Wales maybe? What's the software version number? It's different depending on country.

Where would a hobbyist go to find out which set chips to use for a particular set of game chips/eproms?
Where would a hobbyist go to find out which setting  to use to get a game up and running?

I've got secure site access with all the major manufacturers due to my work, and they all tend to keep the information in there confidential.  As an industry user I'm expected to maintain that confidentiality. If I were to download a par sheet, it would be watermarked with my info, so before anybody asks, no I'm not going to download and forward par sheets or psr's.  I can however let you know if a game should be set as multi line, base x, etc, or what a required minimum set chip would be.
When I get time today I'll look up the settings you'd need for choy sun and post it here.

That version of Choy Sun Returns is for a non-US platform (NSW = New South Wales, Australia) - you will need NSW system chips to run the game; set chips are not used at all with non-US Aristocrats as all of the setup data is inside the game itself. Note that most NSW games are limited to smaller denominations like 1c/2c because they have a $10000 win cap per spin; machines are also not allowed to bet higher than $10.00 per spin. Early games were capped at $10000 with the emphasis on having as close to a $10 max bet as possible, however later games simply don't have a high enough bet to reach the maximum win.

I had suspected that this was a non-US version game.

So let me ask if I had the NSW system chips would I be able to run NSW games in my US MAV500 MK6 cabinet plug-and-play?  I want to make game changes as easy as possible.  Is it easier for me to just stick with US versions of games?

I run both in my USA machine.

NSW are MUCH easier to run.No set chips needed and you dont need to have the correct settings to run.Dont need the number of lines,bet and variation for each game.

I'm glad others have chimed in.  I'm not at all familiar with software versions that aren't directly related to what I work with, which is strictly US based.


Funny thing is I still have a few Choy Sun returns cabinets running on my gaming floor!

Set Chips are not needed for Australian Aristocrat software. Just placed System chips in and your be fine.
Just need to know what system version is to be used with each game.


If you have a older MK6 board you will need a system board.
If you have a XP board, the system board is not needed.
