Looking to buy a DBV-200 with the most recent software available

For what game, IGT & Bally had different software versions.. Can't just buy a DBV200 bill head and hope it works.

IGT S+  Label on defective one shows DBV 200 SS  IDO22/23 V2.60.  Pardon my ignorance.

The DBV-200 head has software inside it for validating the bill that is inserted, plus that software takes care of communicating between the DBV and the slot machine the DBV is installed into. Each different company that makes slot machines (IGT, Bally, Williams, etc) uses a different scheme for this communication so you have to have the right software for the DBV to be able to talk to your machine. In your case you will need ID022/023 type software, in the newest possible version so that it will work with as many new paper bills in circulation as possible.

If you turn your DBV-200 over you will see this memory chip on the bottom thru an access hole in the housing. It is either an eprom in a socket or a flash rom that is soldered to the circuit board. If an eprom then you can remove the eprom and install it into a working DBV-200 head so that other DBV will be compatible with your IGT machine. But that may not be very helpful if this eprom software is too old and doesn't work with today's money. (it should work with the $1 bill, that bill has not changed like all the others have).

What is wrong with your DBV-200? Is it dead, or just not taking taking money? Maybe it just needs cleaning? If it works ok with a $1 bill but doesn't take newer bills then what you really need is to update the software in it. That may be easier and lower cost than finding a good working DBV-200. If your DBV-200 uses eprom style software then you can probably get a replacement eprom with the latest software and plug it in. If it has the flash rom that is soldered then you can send it out and have new software loaded for you.

Thanks for the explanation.  It is a flash rom unfortunately. And, unfortunately my DBV is not working so I must look for a replacement.

a few checks for the unit.  see if the two leds are on between the two plugs,  there is a stand alone test for the unit, it will test it for bills inserted into it, will not establish credits, just accept the bill and deposit it in the rear of the unit, you have to set the dip switches on the bottom to get in the stand alone test, you can hold the unit in your hand and preform the test. you only need the power supply hooked up to it.

I tried several dip switch tests.  It passed all of them except these two. Bill registry without stacker and bill register with stacker It will not pull bills in.

if the unit does not accept any bills in the stand alone test then the unit is defective for what ever reason.  you should consider replacing the bill unit with a WBA 12. reason, the transport unit for the 200 head tends to "eat" bills, especially if it has not been used for a long time. but if you don't mind unjamming and removing the transport unit every time then replace the head.  make sure you have the right power supply for the 200 head, should have vent holes on the outer casing. 

if you entertain the idea to upgrade to a WBA, I have all the parts to do it.

They are on the bottom of the head.   Why did you post this question to a 4 year old classified ad instead of starting a new topic in the appropriate forum?
