1088 $ machine blows fuse on 2nd coin

Machine works fine until the 2nd coin passes the coin in switch.
When the coin switch returns up the Deposit Coin light picks up 50 volts, blowing the 6 volt fuse.
Thinking the odds unit or handle release might be causing this problem.
Wondering if anyone else has come across this situation.

The machine is not in the shop, I'm trying to help long distance over the phone.

As crazy as it sounds, and as much heat as I have taken on this forum for saying it, I have found MANY a short by as close as possible creating a total dark situation.  Turn out the lights or put a blanket over you and the game.  Drop that second coin and look closely.  A flashligh may help you find the coin slot of the micro switch on the door.  Once found black out time again.  USUALLY there is a spark where your short is.  Not high tech but it works.

You have either a short to case, or a burned coil.
Get a cheap VOM and on ohms (or continuity) pull each subunit, clip one lead to frame and touch other probe to each switch and coil connection. You should get NO reading. The machine is designed to be absolutely isolated from case.
I suspect you have either a shorted odds step up coil, or a switch touching to case.
You can also unplug the machine and then check all of the switches, light bulb sockets, coil's, etc. in the case in the same way.
Once you isolate the short to a specific subunit then you must find where on that subunit you have contact to the frame.

I think we've got it narrowed down to a bad coil G31-2000 on the odds step up unit.
Ra that is a good way to locate any fireworks in the machine that could be trouble.
Also did the test with one lead of the meter on the case, machine was clear of direct shorts.

Thanks for the suggestions, will leave this post open until the machine is fixed.
Going to send a coil for the machine, but won't know until its installed.

I hope someone will come video me teaching how to work on these before i exit/kak. I'm 68 & smoke, but good for awhile. I am the 1% of EM afficianados.
Even have a room here in Reno for duration for someone who can vid this.
