Extremely low payout

I have a Red White & Blue Bonus Spin Vision machine. Ever since I built this thing I find it UNUSUALLY difficult to hit even small amounts of credits. I can cruise through a thousand bucks ($1 denom @ 3 coins) like it's nothing. When I eventually manage to hit the bonus, it lands on "collect" on the 1st spin quite often. % is set at the highest level. Am I missing something here? It's very frustrating to the point that I'm sick of playing it. Should I do a clear and start over, Maybe? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ian

You can change the payout percentage with a key chip I believe.

just a thought,,,

If you set the payout percentage to a lower value would you get small wins more often, and fewer larger wins? Isn't that how it works on payout percentages? With a lower payout percentage your total winning would be less, but you might get more playing satisfaction by having smaller wins more often.

Otherwise the machine would be a dud from day one and wouldn't last in the casino, which IGT would know when they designed it. You could set the payout % lower just to see what happens, nothing to lose by trying.

And of course there is the old explanation that your number of spins is not enough statistically to realize the 97% payout in the long run it is designed for. But that explanation doesn't make it any more fun to sit thru all those losing spins.

I've encountered the same on a S2000 (non vision) machine. I finally tried another 50X MPU & it started a more normal pattern. Further testing led me to remove the static ram chips & replaced them with a pair from a bad mpu. Bingo. Not sure which one was causing the problem. Just replaced both. It was set at 98% payout & actual payout was around 60% before changing them. Might be worth a try. I have some spares if you need some.

Just to clarify, lowering the payback percent lower the frequencyof the SMALLER payouts and has no effect on the bigger ones. Also, machines run hot and cold, some run cold longer and more often than others. One thing that seems to have a big affect on payouts is the size of the larger jackpots. If your machine pays 1600 coins for a top jackpot it will pay smaller wins a lot more often than one that awards 10,000 coins for a top jackpot. I won't generally buy a machine that has a huge jackpot for that reason

RM1 (U18) & RM2 (U45) just above the SG chips on 500 series MPU. You will get a ram error & have to clear using the key & test button. Pay attention to the orientation of the notch on the chips. Doesn't matter which one goes in which socket.

Swapping the 2 for each others sockets will do the same thing. They aren't actually bad or the game wouldn't work. Just saying...

It has nothing to do with anything being broken or not working right. It's a dry spell, nothing more, nothing less.
Or overthink it and spend money to fix a problem that doesn't exist, whatever makes ya happy...

I don't understand how a memory chip problem would do this, but RB is experienced and familiar on your model of machine so what happened to him could somehow be what you are dealing with. At this point it's worth a try, which is all he was saying. I'd even be open to incantations and burning incense if I thought it would improve things. Maybe your RNG is stuck on zero. (that's just a joke)

Please post a followup, and if we see the machine for sale in the Classifieds we'll know the result.

I know what will work!
I saw an really old lady once in Laughlin, at the Flamingo. She was on one machine (s plus RWB wild stars) , with one leg on the chair of the machine next to her, on the right. In the middle was an ash try with probably 20 crushed smoldering butts and, of course she had one unfiltered Camel in her mouth.
Anyway... she'd tap three times, with a quarter (head facing left) on the metal just above the DBV, then give one (and ONLY one) THUMP with a closed right handed fist, knuckles forward (thumb up), on the glass smack dab in the center. Then she inserted a quarter followed by the LUCKY quarter (the one she tapped with) and then slap the MAX BET button.
This should work...
... unless your machine is coinless... if so, just go through the motions and it should increase your payout percentage.

It's just volatility.  If changing ram chips worked for a person, it was pure coincidence.  These are computer programs and running them on different hardware doesn't make a lick of difference.

Call it coincidence or whatever. After 30 minutes of play I have hit a 150, 75, 2 bonuses for 65 and 35 and multiple smaller wins. I was up 50 at one point (I've never been "up" on this machine) but now am down 200. Personally, whether it is coincidence or not really doesn't matter. I had more fun in the past 30 minutes than I've had since I built this machine. Time will tell. If it continues to be as boring as ever, I will convert it to a different vision theme and be done with it. Thanks RB.
