Happy day to you!
 
I have a S2000 Vision game to fix. Called The Fishing Game, this machine has been off for a very long time and the MPU Varta battery is dead and was leaking a little. I cleaned the battery and board with soda/water paste and it looks like there is no damage to the MPU board. I haven't removed this battery from the board yet as I am waiting for a new one in the mail now. My question here is this: After installing the new Varta battery am I going to have to set up everything with key chips 17 and I think 97? I have never worked on one of these newer slots yet, so this is going to be all new for me. Can anyone guide me here a little so I can know what to expect on getting this machine up and running again?

If the battery acid damaged the traces on the board you will get, most likely, a door open error that won't go away. There are other possibilities, but this is the most common and board replacement is recommended. If your board is a 500 series MPU then you don't need the green varta battery anyway. If it's a 1270 series then you do. Look at the last digits of the board model number to tell or post a picture for us. Beyond that you should be able to use your jackpot reset key to get it going without having to key or clear chip the machine

Up above it has: ML V0-C 94V0 5 197
 
Not sure where I would find the series # but this board has two solder batteries on it in two different locations, one area is a home made replacement of a 3V lithium that someone soldered tabs on, I think it replaces a yellow button battery.

That's a 500 series board, green battery not needed for normal operation. Turn it on and see what you get.

This sounds promising, but I did power it up, seen rom error, and I did try turning the JP reset key because it had a Rom error, also I tried the test button and I forget now, (old you know) but I think it ended up to where it said something about all stitual memory would be lost?, and then I think it went back to room error. the machine is not here but the board is. So when I get back to where the machine is, if I have rom error on the read out how should I proceed with trying to get this machine to coin up? Any ideas are good, and if it doesn't just clear, what do I have to do them, use the Key chips?

Keep turning the key until it says push white test button for 3 seconds then close and latch the door. Reels should spin and be ready to play. I would like to get my hands on the chips and data card for that game.
