IGT S+ Error 20-50?

Not sure how far you moved the machine, but it might be worth checking with the power unplugged if any coins, screws, washers, etc. slipped under the motherboard causing any kind of a short. It's a long shot, but I'm running out of ideas.

Yes, this machine has worked perfectly for about 10 years with the MC-40 Coin mech. 

Then either the "MC-40" label is incorrect and there's a CC-16D circuit board inside that coin comparator box.
But we won't know until you see what's inside.

Whatever....since the coin comparitor doesn't accept coins, you need to answer rokgpsman's questions and as Knagl said, adjust the coin acceptance/sensitivity potentiometer dial.
Simplest way to get the sensitivity in the ballpark is to turn the dial fully counter-clockwise until it stops, then turn clockwise 1/4 turn.

since the coin in lamp is flashing, I'm going to guess you have a SP1271. since you can put credits on the machine and it works as advertised, then you have one of two problems. the cc-40 is bad, or no power getting to it, or a long shot something wrong with your coin in optics. some thing in that area of the machine.  go to the first post in the S+ section, look at the flip cards, run input test 10_1,11_1,12_1, this will rule out the optics, next do as previously asked, replace the sample coin with a different coin, turn the sensitivity pot all the way CCW.  does your machine have a bill acceptor? if so then you can remove the entire cc-40 metal bracket/comparitor/optics assembly from where they are mounted, open the belly door, close the main door, plug in the assembly, and you will see if the LED comes on the CC-40, plus you could actually measure the input voltage across the black wire and the yellow wire, should be 24vac.

if whatever you discover is defective, I have any of the parts you may need to fix the problem.

Finally got a chance today to swap the MC-40 Coin mech with a CC-16 which was in another of my S+ machines.     Getting the same result for either of them, so I do not believe that the problem is with the coin mech.   As I mentioned, this machine has been working for many years with the MC-40, and no problems.


Not getting any mischief from the hopper, or any indication that it is trying to dispense coins.  I swapped that as well from the other machine, and get the familiar "ding" when I insert the hopper.   So it looks like we can eliminate that as well.

Duh...    After my last reply, I realized that although with the Coin mech, and the hopper swapped from a good machine I was still getting 20-50 in the displays as before, I did not try to insert a coin!   Went back, and Viola!! the coins registered, and the machine played normally!!      Swapped the CC-16 mech back to the MC40, and now that one works as well.   Swapped the hopper back and everything is still good, and back to the original parts that I started with. 


 I want to say maybe it was the connector to the coin mech, but I had re-seated it many times, and cleaned it with contact cleaner as well.

Well my theory was short lived.   This coin comparator no longer accepts coins,   I swapped it with a 16-CC-D-100 (rev F) from another S-PLUS machine and it accepts coins just fine.  In addition, the bill acceptor is not functioning, and the "Insert Bills" bezel is not lit.


This comparator also does not work in the doner machine, so I assume it is toast.


I cannot read the entire label, however I believe it to be a MC-40. (The CMI number does not show in any of the lists on this this site)


Strangely, the Doner machine's bill acceptor now is not working as well   Not sure if these are related, just coincidence(Don't remember when it last worked), or if I propagated the problem by swapping the coin mechs..


I have been through the configuration several times, and from the SP1048 PSR, I believe I have the correct settings for everything?


Am I at the dreaded step of doing what everyone says NOT to do, by running Clear/Set process to reset the machine(s)?

Just want to update everyone who helped with this post!    After about 3 months of checking, testing, swapping coin mechs, bill acceptors and other parts in and out of this machine with no success, I finally identified the problem(s) today as a simple bad connector going to the MPU. 

Although I had re-seated them many times, and sprayed them with contact cleaner, out of desperation I pulled them one more time and VIOLA!  The supposedly bad coin mech now works fine!  The Bill Acceptor also lit up and is working as well!   This machine is running like brand new.

Can you take a picture of that particular connector and post? Or edit your other one and circle the culprit but a close up shot would be better.

The 3 rightmost connectors in the picture form the harness which runs to the door, and the coin mech.    I re-seated all 3 of them and it started working, not sure which one did it, but the wires from the coin ctl are mostly brown ones and green.     These are split across the 3 connectors.
