CC-16E Coin Comparator cable repair

I posted this topic in the Coin Comparators group but not many people looked at it. So I'm reposting it here:

The cable that connects the comparator  model CC-16E in my IGT S+ 3 reel machine has a broken wire.I was able to extract the pin out of the 6-wire housing (only 5 pins are actually used).I don't recognize the pin. It is similar to pins that I use on my Arduino projects (Dupont connectors). But while the size of the pin is similar, the Dupont pins are not compatible and look quite different.What brand/manufacturer of pins should I be looking for?Gary

Could you strip a little insulation off the end of the broken wire and solder it to the pin, then reinsert into connector housing?

Stripping the wire is easy. But I doubt that my soldering skills are up to the task given the small amount of space available in the plastic connector to accept the result.

Going off a very foggy memory, but I believe they are JST connector style Pins. I can't remember the size or specs. However I think you can just buy a new harness very reasonable instead of repairing

Which is what I've done this round. But I want to "do it myself" next time.

I know it isn't always done, but whenever a connector is disconnected it should be held by the connector housing when pulling the connector away from its mating connector, you don't want to grab the wires and pull on the wires to disconnect. Pulling on the wires to disconnect a cable like this is about the only way that the wires will get broken.

If soldering isn't an option that connector pin will need to be crimped to the wire, which will require a crimping tool that may be costly for a very seldom repair job.
