Call Attendant - Abnormal Program Termination

Hi guys,


Fighting with a S9 / S6000 conversion...here's where we're at:


OS 317
Bios 807
Game CF - Converter Card S9 / S6
SMI U18 & U20 on adapter board


Cleared the machine with a 312-04. All normal. Replace OS and boot up and after "Bally Gaming" on screen, LEDs flash around reel glass, black screen with the usual gobblety-gook, then "CALL ATTENDANT" pops up.


A turn of the reset key produces a "Abnormal Program Termination - Turn key to Restart Machine". So, turtle key, game restarts, but ends up at same "CALL ATTENDANT".


Any thoughts?

It sounds like the right set-up to use with the converter card software.
You are using a 512 CPU?
Otherwise see if you can swap to another PCI card or make sure it's seated good into the MPU.
Software is installed in matched sets and in correct order? P1(U20) and P1(U18)

What's a turtle key?

Here's our turtle key...do you guys use something different?   If so, should I place a WTB?

So...in looking at the Conv board, I spy with my little eye, a small little socket at U2 (8 leg socket, like a JUR chip). Should this be populated?

YES you do need that chip.
Also next to that chip is a clam shell that should contain the sound files
 
For the record, I also use a turtle key so that's not the problem.

OH! so I will put a JUR chip in there? Does it need one on the actual MPU or not?

That chip may be the size of a jurisdiction chip and I don't have any documentation as to what it is and I have never tried a jurisdiction chip in that place. However I going to go out on a limb and say it's not a jurisdiction chip.
The one I have in U2 is listed as PGM103137-0-0A I have not removed the sticker so I don't know the actual chip number that this file is placed into. Of all the jurisdiction chips that I have none are that number and ALL the machines that I have running with converter boards have both this chip on the PCI board and the jurisdiction chip in the MPU.
If you need some of these PCI boards let me know.

Do your extra PCI boards have the little mystery chip??? If so, consider them sold.
