Bb1 topgun on a bb2

Can the topgun game for a bb1 be played on a bb2?
It says it plays on a bb1 with dual screens but uses a bb2 cpu.
So is it the board in the top box i heard about.
And if so how do you go about getting the board to play on a bb2? If its possible

Topgun is really a bb2 game that runs on a bb1 cabinet with a bb2 mpu and a special topbox.  The game can be "fooled" to think it has the topbox with use of what is called a fooler board (aka TseTse board)  It does not work with the OLED button panel, it requires the use of a standard button panel.  The game WILL NOT WORK on a bb1 mpu.

Does anybody have the Top Gun Software and a TSE that I can purchase?  I am looking to purchase my 1st BB2 this weekend or next week but I need the software, and apparently a TSE to work on top monitor.  Looking for something fun and different from my IGT Gameking and I-Game.  I would even consider buying the Top Gun topper if anyone has it at a decent price.  Let me know.  I am new to the WMS world.

If you do get a BB2 machine you will also need a mechanical button deck with it as the BB2 comes standard with an OLED button deck. I have an extra TSE fooler board if you decide you need one . PM me if you do.

Also, doesnt the game not utilize the top monitor? Its just blank or has a williams logo?

Top gun has one of those lightboxes with the prize amounts on them, there is not top monitor on top gun that is why it requires a fooler board.

I am fine with a fooler if someone has one.  But if someone has the actual top piece.  I would buy it.

Thanks for everyone's help and to Idesign for the parts.  Can anyone tell me the difference between an OLED button deck and a Mechanical One.  Would a mechanical one be like what is on an IGT Gameking?  Do they plug in the same?

The oleds have a video screen in the buttons that change to accommodate the game contents (all bb2's come with oled panels from the factory).  The mechanical ones are just pushbuttons with switches and a plastic legend inside a clear shell.  They require a harness to go from the button panel to the backplane in addition to the harness that is already attached to the buttons.  Theoretically all that is required is just one button (Bet Max) in order to play the game, but people like having the entire button panel because it just looks right. LOL.

I am going to buy the machine with the OLEDs, but my dealer has the other button panel as well so I will have both in case I want to switch games.  Thanks for the info on the harness.  I am picking it up tomorrow, don't want to forget anything.

Got the machine today.  BB2 Upright NX2 I think.   Only paid $850. Everything is in pretty good shape.  Got the mechanical button panel with the harness.  Will take out the OLEDs and hold on to them in case I switch games.  I will probably have more questions in the future, but right now, I am trying to find 2 parts.
1.) A player tracking monitor blank
2.) Upper monitor chrome trim piece that is clean with no scratches.  (mine has deep scratches)[size=78%] [/size]

Btw top gun will work with an oled button deck installed
But you can only bet on the bottom monitor touch screen
The oled deck does nothing
That’s how it Works on my machine anyway

I have the game installed with the TSE Fooler Box.  All it is doing is mirroring the lower monitor.  I thought with a TSE it was supposed to display something different.  Is there a setting in the menus I need to use choose?

Well, if you have the top monitor connected to the mpu, you will just get the double image.  If you connect it to the tse tse, you will probably just get a black screen.  I don't believe topgun displays anything on the tsetse, if it displays anything it would just the the splash screen of whatever top lcd game card you are using on the tsetse.

Is it possible to put a card in the TSE that would display just an image or a series of images?  I have Lord of the Rings: Land of Mordor and it does that when you are just playing the reels without a bonus activated.  Is that what the card in the TSE Box does?

The tsetse box was originally the mpu that drove the top monitor on dual bb1 games. So if you have CF card for goldfish in the tsetse box, the tsetse would display the splash screen for the goldfish game.  If you want something else displayed on the monitor, you could get a media player or something, load it up with images you want to see and have it do a slideshow (basically using your top monitor as a digital photo frame.

The whole point of the tsetse is to fool the game into thinking you actually have the light box on top of your machine, it does nothing else but that on bb2 type games, or instances where the tsetse is being used as a fooler board.
