Early S Plus Metering

Continuing to read through the wealth of information here, I notice that many machines had physical coin counters.  My RW&B does not so I find myself wondering if the early S+ models had them typically.  If so, I'd try to restore them.

On a regular s plus, they are to the right of the reels. Do you see any holes on the chassis and perhaps some wires dangling behind?

On my early model, they are to the right of the reels. Looks like they are connected to a panel maybe behind? I can't really see back there.

Your machine would have had hard meters originally, they are pretty much required by all gaming regulators and casinos as a security thing. Also it lets the casino keep track if the machine is earning its keep or time to remove it from the floor. Here's where they are on some models. Someone may have removed them for some reason, sometimes people don't like the clicking noise. On some machines if the meters are removed or disconnected there has to be a bypass jumper added so the machine doesn't have an error condition, not sure about an S+.

If the meters are still there check to see if they are still plugged into the motherboard.  You can bypass them by just unplugging them from the motherboard and get no errors.

The right side of the reel compartment does have a number of standoffs that look like they probably mounted a panel at some point, but everything is missing.


Shaggy, could you post a photo of what your early S+ meters look like?  I'm going to try and rebuild that system the way it would have been and it would be good to see what it looks like.

I'm not sure what you need, but it looks about the same as the later model machines. 1 less meter. Shouldn't be too hard to come by. I bet you can come up with it.
