Igt s+ no coin lock out and no bills..

I got a 3 coin igt s +.
It was taking bills but stoped.
It will take coins. But when you put in more than 3 they drop into the hopper, Not the tray.and of course you dont get a credit for the extra coins.
And also the bill light on the door does not come on like it should.
I can see the red lights in the bill validator where the dollars go in..
And no it wont even take the bill or spit it out.
Other than that it plays fine.gives credits when it wins..

Got the bill validator going the brass screw that holds it in. Was a little bent. And the validator was not sitting all the way down.
So got that solved.
Now to check the coin comparitor for a bad coil maybe. Not sure..

Not your comparator, probably your diverter coil.

The deverter coil is on the compaarator?
Right?
Thats what i meant.
Is it 24 volts to that coil?

No, not the comparator. Below it is a coil that flips the diverter flap back and forth.
The comparator rake in the back can be held open by wedging some paper under it if you want to test that theory.

Ok.
So after three coins that coil should come on and drop the coins to the tray .right?
What is the voltage to that coil?
So i can see if the voltage is there when its on..

24VAC is converted to DC via a full wave diode bridge wired across the coil. You should read a DC (pulsing at 60Hz) voltage across the coil.
Usually the coil over heats and gets stuck in one position, if so time to replace it.
