my new 5000 plus getting it up and running

Hi Alljust got a ballys 5000 plus, "Firecracker" so far I pulled the board and ordered a battery. First 2 Questions which button is the test button and which is the reset button. if i have to SAFERAM clear ( i down loaded the inst. for this) do i move j15 to j14.
its at my dads house so more pic's are coming!

Hi - 


Reset is left, test is right facing machine with board installed.


I've seen 2 ram clear routes, varies by chip set I'm guessing.


The easy one to explain is pop the I/O (upper) board from the backplane (still connected otherwise) and power on while holding the pseudo coin button on the coin door until the display reads "CL".  Power off, reseat the board, and all should be good.


The other method involves jumpering two pins on the coin door board for power up, search around here, I'm sure it is documented.

yes the multi payout looks cool and i cant wait to see it work. here is the SAFERAM sheet i have. I'll see what it needs when i get the battery. it sucks that no one in town had the battery, but lately it seems no one carries the parts i need in general here

Those may be the clear instructions for 5000 vs. 5000 Plus, should double check.

I put the battery in and getting a 83 on the displays the coin accepted is flashing.

I did a clear and got it working but it is stuck on a pay out and the hopper is not spinning. theres got to be a way to program it for credit plays.

Key pad on the way.There is also a mod for the board to remove the rechargeable battery and replace it with a CR2032 button cell in a socket, easier to replace when the battery dies again.I have the kit and instructions for that mod if needed.

I did notice the insert coin light was not on also

i replaced the bulbs in the insert coin now its looking good and plays great. one more piece to find

bad news i couldn't leave it alone i put a new belly bulb in and that didn't fix the light problem so messed with the starters i think one is bad, top and reel lights turn on,  but now the led display will not turn on i get nothing, on the motherboard the 2 leds don't light at all

just to finish this thread I rebuilt the power supply, all new caps and 2 150k resistors  and all is great now. i found 2 bad florescent tubes 1 bad starter and a bad lamp.
