How to wipe the AVP 3.0 Harddrive.

Good day,


I need a little help. I need to wipe my IGT AVP 3.0 CPU clean to install the games I want on it.


How do you do it and what thumbdrives are needed.


I know how to install the OS and load the games. Its just the wiping of the drive that I don't know

You will need a diagnostic thumb drive in combination with an appropriate eKey to accomplish that. From there you can fully wipe the drive or remove individual packages if you wish.

I knew that but when I used my diagnostic the machine is saying "USB mass storage authentication Failed. System will retry in 10 seconds". 


I have the diagnostic zip file and tried putting it on a Igt compatible flash and nothing

Im no expert by any means but from my experience it sounds like something may be corrupt in your diagnostic zip file or the version of the diagnostic file you have isn’t compatible with your boot chips.


Do you know what version file you have for the diag thumb drive?

If you are using windows to write the contents to the zip drive you are going to have that issue.  Windows writes some hidden files into anything you insert, these files will change the  calculated hash during validation thus giving you the error you get.  NEVER insert the diagnostic key into a windows or mac machine, it will mess it up.  If you put the flash drive into a linux machine, you can just erase the non-igt directory and you should be good to go.  Also booting the machine with the ekey and the OS install flash drive will wipe the drive clean and just install OS,  then you can install the game packages as you see fit.

Actually I thought that booting the machine with the OS and Ekey 7 would have wiped it but it does not. The game packages are there if you just do that and reboot the machine. I tried that and it didn't work. When I tried rebooting the machine it did the same thing.


My problem arose when I was loading games. I loaded some games and when I rebooted to set the machine up it just kept restarting itself.  The first AVP screen would appear as normal but when it was changing to the second AVP screen the BV would cycle short and it would just go back to the original AVP screen.

Solved.


I downloaded a program called Disk Genius that allowed me to format the drive in windows. I then put the drive back in the CPU and loaded the OS and game files.


So I did go around the diag 14 thumbdrive.
