Where did THESE come from?

Just got back from my New Orleans and Florida trip and just remembered that I have these black plastic things laying around, they came out of my IGT s2000 Double Diamond slot machine a while ago and I'm still trying to identify where they came from? My bigger question is if these play a major role the cash box and bill validator mechanism?

They could be from the cash can or cans. The spring loaded black plastic flap that sits under the bills has tabs in the back that hold that flap into a groove. The cash can will still work. Pull on that piece, if it moves forward or wants to come out when you pull it, those are broken off on that cash can.

Inside the cash can there is a spring loaded plastic piece, it has the two long springs under it. It should not be able to be pulled out. It is held into 2 grooves, one on each side. There are plastic pegs holding in those grooves. It usually doesn’t affect how the cash can works, but it can.

Is this the piece of plastic you are talking about? If so, mine pulls right out of the cash can and I still don't see where the two black pegs went or fell out from, thanks

I believe you could use a new cash can.

Will this machine work ok if the cash can is removed and its security switch is bypassed?

yes ,that will work fine using quarters/tokens.  To use the bv you need to trick it into thinking the can is in place to drop bills into cage.  There is a thread here somewhere with Jim explaining how to do it I think.  EDIT: that may only work on a s+  Not sure how to get rid of stacker error on s2000.

There should be one peg on the bottom out side edges where the yellow arrows pointing. They run in grooves in the back on the cash box. If you look you will see where your have broken off. The pieces you found may not even be from that cash box. It’s just as easy for a repair person to throw pieces like those back into a machine instead of in a trash can.

Thank you, I'll look at the post to bypass the bill validator, the cash box still has the two metal pegs on the outside of it that lets it slide into the cash cage, and the repair person actually held these pegs in his hand and said," These broke out of the machine" The scary part is that I am not sure where they came from and what will be affected because they are broken out ( He was working on getting the cash can out when they broke off )

The machine will let you play it without a cash box but the bv won't lite up.  Not sure if you can make it work on s2000 without a cash box. I was thinking about s+ machine.

Thank you so much for the photo with the yellow arrows, bow I see where the two pegs broke off on the cash box, makes me feel waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better to know where they came from
