Top Dollar Voice - Credits vs. Dollars

I have a multi-denom IGT S2000 Double Top Dollar with the credits glass. The question I have is if it's possible to convert the bonus voice from saying "credits" to "dollars".


Example:


30 credits to 30 dollars


I'm not sure if this is possible with a multi-denom machine, even when I set it up with a single denom.


Any ideas?

** UPDATE - ISSUE RESOLVED **

The version chip, which controls the single/multi-denom state of the machine is what determines if it announces the bonus in "Dollars" or "Credits"

SINGLE-DENOM: Set to at least $1.00 and it will announce in dollars
MULTI-DENOM: Will always announce in credits, even if you only have one denom setup at a time.

Mine speaks in dollars. I'll fire mine up and see if its possible to change it to speaking credits.

I would think the sb chip would influence that.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that maybe there is a single-denom and multi-denom stepper base for the top dollars. I've seen some that have the "Credits" on the top glass, but speak in dollars.


I'd love to switch it over to dollars - I like the idea of it saying, "$12,500" instead of 110 credits LOL

Hey man - What version chip do you have in yours? (If you don't mind pulling the board to look). I am assuming yours is a single-denomination version.

Interesting subject. I have a single denomination Top Dollar with dollar glass and sound in dollars. Seems to me the SB chip would require the correct sound simm (DSV) to match.

I have the same sound simm (DSV00078), but currently have a SB100521 and have a SB 100525 on the way. (Double Top Dollar variant). I'll report back if that makes any difference. I went through the entire Key Chip Config and Sound Config and didn't see a setting that controls this... at least, not in my SB100521)

Actually, I just noticed that the sound simm has some dip switches on it - I wonder if any of those control this. I can't find any documentation on the web for it though

no the dip switches are used to determine what memory range the chip represents, every sound simm i have ever seen there are set to all off

So, RB hooked me up with a SB 100525 and it still announces in credits and not dollars. I went completely through all of the options in the key chip config I/II and also Volume sections and can't find an option for it.


Is it possible it's the version chip that I have? I know that it will only announce in Dollars IF the wager is at least $1. For example, it doesn't do, "15 dollars and 75 cents".

I'm determined to figure this out! For those of you that have it announcing in Dollars, can you give me the Version, Game, and SB chip #'s you are using?

I think you're looking in the wrong place. The program and sounds associated with the bonus game is probably located in the top box.

I'm not familiar with the inside of the S2000 top box, but inside the S+ there is an MPU complete with a program module with sound eproms.  An S2000 might be similar.

Maybe that's your answer. Use a single denom version chip set at $1 or another even dollar amount. Or use a multi denom set at $1 minimum & other amounts at even dollar amounts. If you keep the 25c, 50c etc out of the equation it might just work like you want. The PSR for SG378 indicates multi denom capability & actually makes no mention of single denom version chips. You can set up single denom with a MD version chip if desired. I might at least try that before tearing into the top box. You will need a key chip to change the player denoms. A clear will be required before you can change the accounting denom.

There is no MPU in top box of barcrest S2000, it runs off the S2000 MPU - only S+ barcrest has top box MPU.  I agree with RB, I would set denom at one dollar.

There is no MPU in top box of barcrest S2000, it runs off the S2000 MPU - only S+ barcrest has top box MPU.  I agree with RB, I would set denom at one dollar.

Sadly, I have already tried that... here is what I've attempted:


- Set Accounting / Player Denom at $1
- Set Multi-Denom Button 1 to $1, 2 through 4 to disabled


- Set Accounting / Player Denom at $1
- Set Multi-Denom to $1, $2, $5, $10


Still always announces in credits.


There is one thing to note - I have NEVER seen a multi-denom top dollar announce in dollars, mostly because it can NOT work with non-dollar amounts, so I suspect they prevent it somehow.


Here are 3 boards I found associated with the top box, but I have no experience with what these could be without a manual or schematic to look at. Any clues?

Please excuse my ignorance as for some reason, I seem to only have mess with multi-denom machines up to this point. Is there a way to convert a multi-denom back to single denom? Which chips control that - the version chip?
