I have been in computer technology for 20 years and thought I could buy a slot machine and fix it up. I am now realizing how different these machines are. At any rate I purchased this machine and am not exactly sure what I need to fix this. I had a netplex down error which I removed the varta battery and U16 and it moved past that error to RAM error. I was able to move past that to start the reset procedure, but it gets hung on close main door error. The slot tech told me that I needed a screen to play the bonus game, but did not tell me what I needed to look for. He just said any IGT screen. He said it is because the top piece has a door sensor. I would love to be able to get the machine working with the bonus, but I am not exactly sure what parts I need to search out. I know Ceronix has monitors, but will that clear this door error or do I need a specific type of topper? The machine looks like it has a short topper on it. Is that supposed to be something different? I am trying to decide if I should just convert this to a different game or search for parts for the game I have. Any thoughts or suggestions for this newbie would be greatly appreciated.

That is an AC Coin machine. Close the main door message is a main door optic problem, they are out of alignment or defective. Or could be the switch on the belly door or the cash can door switch. Bypass them switches. And there maybe two wires that went to a switch if there was an upper cabinet with a switch on the door. I dont think your machine had an upper cabinet. But i think this lovebug game was part of a bank of machines connected to a large monitor that all the machines were linked to that one monitor. The game may work without it. I do see a video cable in your picture. You could plug that into a PC monitor and see if it works. Change the coin cell batteries on your MPU and the other board.

I had a technician come to my house and look at it and he put a bypass on the main door sensor, but it didn't fix the issue. I've also changed all the batteries. Both the one on the main MPU and the one on that other board at the top. The tech seemed to think it needed the top cabinet of some sort. I tried the computer monitor, but the cable is a male coming from the slot and a male on the monitor. I'm going to see if I can find an adapter and try the pc monitor.

I don't think there was a top cabinet that would have a door switch. What does the top of your cabinet look like? I see a candle. That is why i don't think it had a cabinet on top. Also the link you provided shows the cabinet you have. You need to get past close main door to find out if you have any other errors. Post more pics . Need pics of inside of lower cabinet. Did the tech bypass the belly door and cash can switches as well.

See if there is a pair of red and black wires laying in your cabinet not connected on the ends. They could be wires that went to a switch.

Two things. The cable that looks like a monitor cable is a actually a serial cable. I did find a black cherry switch on the front fold down door on the main door it was not connected to anything. I found a black and red cable and plugged it in, but in not sure if I've got it plugged in right. There's 4 prongs sticking out of that cherry switch. I'll send a pick of that in a min I've tried a couple combinations of plugging in the cable but neither cleared the error, so maybe I've got them connected wrong.

That switch is already bypassed by the jumper with the two green wires in the harness below. All good there. Look at the cash can door for those same green wires and see if they are jumpered. That red and black wires maybe the upper board reset. Do those go up to the upper board with the battery on it? If it does, those are reset circuit that you may use later. Not of concern at the moment. Look in the very top cabinet for red and black wires that maybe a twisted pair.

It could be just a problem at the main door optics. Did the tech inspect those optics for alignment .

He did a bypass on the main door optic and it didn't clear the error.

So in that video it shows a big screen and probably multiple slots hooked to it. What runs that big screen?

Not sure. But close main door is someting do do with your cabinet.

Take a look in the bottom of your cabinet near the top of the MPU and see if there is a solid red wire and red with white stripe wire that is connected to a set of solid green wire and red wire with a white stripe. That is where AC Coin connects the upper AC Coin cabinet switch into the lower cabinet. If you have the RED and Red with White stripe there in the bottom that can easily be bypassed.

There's a lot of jumbled cables over there. Here's what I can get to. There's one cable labeled 1 add another labeled 2.

That is your problem. Connect that 1 & 2 together. You will clear the close main door message

When I plug those two in I get the dreaded displays netplex link is down. Unplug and I get close the main door.

One other note... The ticket printer is flashing red lights

Those wires go to the optics originally. Not sure how the tech bypassed the optics. The Netplex error message most likely indicating something else is wrong. Maybe the printer is bad causing the Netplex error. Unplug the printer , reconnect the optics wires and see what results you have.
