Author Topic: Help! No signal on both monitors at startup! (Read 6785 times)

I put two os card in both spots after ram clearing. So am is card was in a game spot and is spot. After turning it on and going through boot I didnâ€™t know what happened till I got to flashing cursor forever after bios. I turned off the machine and put the right game in and now it says no signal when I turn on. Can an is card being in the game slot really brick the cpu-nxt 2? I mean seriously? How many casinos have had tech that must have cost them thousand to order a new cpunxtfrom was. Please guys tell me if thereâ€™s anything I can do beside check cables on back of monitors and cpu cuz I already did that. Also my cpu door got caught on someWires on the left side of the cabinet coming from the CPU. Do you think maybe I am plug something? Is there any one cord that would get unplugged and cause no signal from both monitors. Please guys if you can help me I would so appreciate it. I really hope I didnâ€™t just screw up the whole CPU

You cannot mess up an mpu by putting in the wrong CF card. Something else must have happened. When you put both OS cards, you said you just got a blinking cursor, you should have gotten an error message regarding that mistake, and not just a blinking cursor. If you just had a blinking cursor something else went wrong. You also said some wires got caught on the mpu door, did any of the wires get cut? If you cut wires with power on them, it most likely shorted something and you could have some damage to the backplane. At this point I would make sure both monitors are working correctly first to discard that. Plug in a laptop to both monitors to see if you get an image on the screen. If you don't, you have an issue with the monitors. I once blew out a monitor by plugging in a harness I was testing that had a voltage wire connected to ground, fortunately for me (and not the monitor because it was bricked after that) nothing else got fried.

You can check that you have good power going to the backplane by looking at the leds on the right side of the backplane. There is a series of 5 leds I believe that light up if you are getting good power, if any of those are missing, you have a power issue. Also when the mpu is plugged in, there are a set of lights on the mpu as well that light up when there is power, look for those.

Edit: no wires were cut, the blinking cursor is no more because the monitors won't come on checked all monitor connections and they should be fine.I'm sorry, I've been SO upset and depressed about this I've literally not even wanted to talk about it. Everyone here knows what kind of money I spent to get this thing and all the games and now it doesn't work. But anyway heres the deal. All 5 leds on backplane and all leds on mpu are on. The emotive lighting controller leds are on. The emotive lighting is doing this thing where the top and the bottom turn blue and stay on for 30 seconds and then flash off and then come back on unsynced which is very weird. I've tested both monitors and they function with other devices. Can anyone please help at there earliest convenience? Thanks for having Christmas spirit. Is there any way to tell what went out or am I just gonna have to start buying the cpu and if it's not that buy a backplane?

Idesign is right, those video cards can go out without warning. Typically with overheating. If it was stressed already it is possible any kind of small short could have done it in.

Just for S&G Have you tried to put the ram clear back in and seeing if it will reclear?

I will try tonight, but I really donâ€™t think it will work Nothing comes up on the monitor at ALL either one, I kinda think itâ€™s more than the video card because nothing loads if I leave it on and there is NO sound and the audio never plays and nothing ever loads because the emotive lighting never changes to the game pattern

Only way to rule out the video card is to swap in a replacement. I bet a penny that it's the video card though. I seen this before.

I got the same machine and the same problem.. Except I didn't ram clear mine.. My machine sat for a bit unused and tried to fire up last night with the same results.. no video.. Question.. If the video card did go out shouldny the machine "boot up" and make sound and have the Oled buttons working after boot???and ALL leds on back board are on and all lights and fans are on in the mother board box..

No, if the CPU does not sense video it will constantly reboot until it senses the video card is working. No sound like beeping because it never gets to that point. You may want to try removing the video card, clean the contacts on both sides and put it back in.

Edit: Thanks idesign for all the troubleshooting tips.Okay, sorry again for not writing back. Iâ€™ve been having some family issues lately. So from what Iâ€™ve read on this thread Iâ€™m guessing it is the Card, because the emotive lighting keeps cycling through the boot pattern. So it must keep resetting since there isnâ€™t a valid video card. Iâ€™m gonna try to take it out and clean the contacts, thanks for the suggestion. But I have a question for the pros here. From what Iâ€™ve seen on eBay itâ€™s cheaper to get a video card with a new cpu; instead of buying a new video card then if it doesnâ€™t work a new cpu. The plus is I would have a backup cpu nxt 2. What do you guys think, If it were you would you just buy the vid card or go for the loaded cpu with new vid card? Thanks again to everybody for responding and helping out, I would be so lost on what do do without this community. Thanks a million guys, I know Iâ€™ll be playing ruby slippers again in NO TIME with every bodies help.

Anybody know where the video card is located in the cpu and how to get it ou? I didnâ€™t see that part in the manual posted here. Also anyone have pics? Iâ€™d REALLY appreciate it! Thanks in advanced for anyone nice enough to help.

The video card is located under the ssd, loosen the 4 screws holding the ssd bracket and you will see it. 2 screws to remove the video card.

Ok, hereâ€™s the deal guys (and gals if youâ€™re out there). I tried the cheap way (pull out vid card clean connections) NO GO. Now, the vid card I have is on eBay for 130, good price? Also there seems to be a better vid card with a fan instead of just heat sink for 230 should I buy that? What are the differences? I would assume the fan makes it much less likely to overheat. But is it a better card! will it improve things on game? Ok

There is no BB2 video card that I know of that has a fan. If you buy it, good luck with that.

Also, you already have a fan in that CPU on the right side blowing air over the video card. Make sure it is working and that the logic door is closed.

Ok just wondering never seen one like th before, very weird, thank It might have been a laptop card or something. Anyways is 130 a good price for these vid cards on eBay or do you guys think Iâ€™d do better to post an ad here? Or wait till a cheaper one comes along on eBay? The cool thing about eBay is this one has a return policy.

A quick interjection: We add fans to BB2 cards when we have them out, there is a plug on the motherboard for just that too... Now none of out customized BB2 cards should ever be seen in the wild, that doesn't mean someone else hasn't been doing it.

When you say your vid cards are you a business? And what do you mean add fans when theyâ€™re out? Do you set up a bb without the cab or something JW sorry. I can tell you the fan replace the heat sink and the fan has an ATI logo. Also good news it took forever to get a decent price and get the damn thing shipped after the first one I ordered didnâ€™t work and looked sketchy as hell so i tried again on eBay and it was delivered to my house today. Everyone please cross your fingers and prey this works when I get home

Iâ€™m a tech in a large casino. â€œOurâ€ collectively refers to stuff at work. We only sell old equipment to other casinos. Itâ€™s possible through a third or forth party our machines and or parts could be in the wild.
