Printer connection question

I have an early S2000 "five times pay" machine which has the hidden speakers like in the vision series cabinets. These speakers take up a lot of space in the top box making it impossible to install a printer there. There is just no place on this machine to install a printer. I currently have a TITO installed with no way to print. Can only accept tickets from my other machines.

I'm giving some thought to installing an external printer, maybe locate it in the slot stand. I can make a wiring harness to reach. My only problem is connecting it. There is no power distribution board in the top box or any printer connector in the lower wiring harness. I have located an empty netplex connector on the mother board (back plane) on lower right edge. Will the printer work if I plug it in there (and key to enable it) ? I believe a netplex connection is all that is necessary ?

Can convert to a short reel glass and install the printer next to the reels? There should be an empty connector behind the reel shelf on the wall wiring harness for the printer .

A printer won't fit on the right side of reels. Would I need a new reel shelf to shift reels to the left ?


There is no empty connector on back wall, either behind reels or below shelf.

J--2, J-3 and J-14(listed in the book as printer) all appear to be in parallel with one another, if you took the normal connector that is used to connect the printer from the power distribution board typically located in the top box, cut it in two add extensions to the wires and you should be able to fabricate the cable you need.

I've been studying the situation a little further. I like the idea of placing the printer to the right of the reels but I think I'm out of luck. Seems this will require a different reel shelf in order to shift the reels to the left to make space. Even if I do this, there won't be sufficient depth because the power supply is in the way. Assuming its possible to move the power supply, it will also require removing the meters on the right cabinet wall and moving the door switch and door optics out of the way. The installation will require a printer box be installed but there is no mounting. No threaded studs on the cabinet wall to accommodate it. It looks like this is an early cabinet which makes no provision for a printer.

Guess I'll make an extended wire harness as in the prior message and settle for an external printer.

Yes to mount the printer next to the  reels you would change the reel shelf, glass, and display. Takes a few parts though.  You could install your printer in the top box in the center if you have the means to fabricate the  player tracking panel and drill 3 or 4 holes.
