Aristocrat Buffalo Bonus Freeze

I have an Aristocrat Buffalo Game that will go into a bonus and sometimes freeze. It then has a black screen with buttons and topper lit.  On rebooting, the screen comes back stating that the logic door is open. You open and close this and it continues with the bonus. It happened today, but after rebooting the screen was still black.
    It sounds like an EEPROM problem (no board chips have been changed). Does it need to be cleared and reset? I'm guessing this isn't the only machine with the same problem.
