Call Attendant Error Message

I have a minty upright s2000 that plays flawlessly. However, lately when I return to the machine (usually at 24 hour intervals), it has dumped all my credits, displays a Call Attendant warning and requires a reset. I go through the motions, reload the bills, and again it plays beautifully. This has happened three times in four days now. FWIW, this machine gets shut down every night and restarted when I return.


Any ideas of what sort of glitch I ought to be chasing?

Check the battery voltage. Check the green varta battery if it has it. If you have a 500 series board remove that varta, it will only cause trouble

It would help to know what the error message is on the VFD when you are going thru the reset. It should identify the problem.

Base chip CRC error could be that for some unknown reason it is losing it's memory when the machine is shut down, possibly bad ram chips or the SB chip itself is bad. Give us a rundown of all the chip numbers or even better post a pic. If the SB chip is an aftermarket, it should be 120ns or faster. A slower chip can cause issues. 150ns will usually work but 200ns will almost always cause problems.

Peel the label on that base chip & check the speed. It's probably the culprit.

Yeah, I would have been surprised if that was this issue, given that this machine has worked without a problem for a couple years now. But I do appreciate you hound-dogging the error with me. Any other ideas?

Wish I could give you a definitive answer but it looks like you're going to have to experiment with parts swapping one thing at a time. Try a SB chip from another 3 reel game for a couple days & see if the problem persists. After that try swapping the RAM chips from another board, then another MPU board. Have you recently changed the coin battery? Check voltage as Jim suggested. If it's at 2.8 or below, replace it.

Happy to report that this issue has not recurred since reseating my game chips. Hopefully that was the only issue!
